red itchy skin???
Comments (5)Hi ponderinstuff, I don't have reddened skin, but I sure have problems with dry skin. I had it on HRT, and it's getting much worse as I am weaning off my patch. The inside of my nose is getting incredibly dry too. Also, areas on my thighs above my knees are getting bad too.......so to answer your question.....I'm not sure what your reddened face really means, but I think that if your dry, itchy skin is due to low estrogen, that HRT will help it. I'm afraid that might be over-kill, so to speak, though. Perhaps there is another way to try to moisturize your skin? Maybe one of the vitamins, in particular? Good luck. I feel like I may turn into a prune at any moment! ;)...See MoreItchy Skin
Comments (3)I don't know what the steroid cream was. My son-in-law works in the medical field and advised me not to use it after reading the side effects. Also, since it was mixed in with the Eucerine Calming Cream I would not be able to use the cream as freely as I had been using it. I am sure between stress and menopause this has brought on whatever caused this itching to begin with. I am happy to report that almost a year later I have finally stopped the severe itching - about 3 weeks ago it had occurred to me that I hadn't itched in several days and haven't since. I still say that Calming Creme is what helped me more than anything....See MoreGinger's itchy itchy paw
Comments (2)Allergies can show up at any point in life. They basically are caused by the immune system gone awry. In an older dog I'd suspect some kind of immune problem in which the itching or allergy is secondary to something else. It's not uncommon for an older dog or any age dog for that matter to develop allergies shortly after a vaccination to something as well. Allergies and or intolernaces or just irritants can be very hard to figure out so you really need a vet check to look for any foreign substances in the foot,a cut,or any fungus or bacteria, if the nails are involved etc. I'd also opt for an X-ray of the foot to see if something is going on under the skin. So many things could be involved and each one requires a different avenue....See Moreanother skin care products question... Florida peeps, please speak up
Comments (6)Just on gross humidity levels it sounds normal. The trick is the kind of climate control you have. In Phoenix in the Summer, for instance, there's a battle between the dry hot air outside, and the damp, cold air inside. You may find that you really do need a lot less moisturizer in Florida, and also that you may need to change brands. Where in NM, if it's dry, a sealing kind might be good, it could just make you sweat out all the moisturizer and have it run down your face in Florida (I haven't lived there, but I have lived in the tropics). If you can apply your moisturizer early and give it a chance to really sink in, before you change air (i.e., go outside or get in the car, etc.), you'll have a fighting chance against the ack-it's-humid-and-hot-and-I'm-sweating issue. All this is generality, however. Trial and error are going to be your best bet, once you move. You may find that your favorite products are all wrong in the new environment, and you may get zits or dry patches or new oily zones, which will settle down when your skin becomes accustomed to your new normal....See MorePat Z5or6 SEMich
