another skin care products question... Florida peeps, please speak up

I use a moisturizer daily. No, actually I use two, a day time with sunblock in it, and a night time, both, Boots NO 7.

While here in Albuquerque I feel, like I need more, and apply the day use one twice, once in the morning, and then sometime after noon again. I use the night time one before bed.

In Oklahoma I don't feel like my skin is drying out as much... and I found, in Florida it feels like I need less.

So, my question: How do you keep moisturizer from sweating off? Do you use it in the day time too, or do you "just use sunscreen"?

I live in Florida, I use Roc products. Sometimes during the day I need it, in the (HA) cooler months. But generally I use the Roc 5 in one night cream every night. It soaks in better and I don't get that greasy shiny look in the morning. I find it lasts during the day my face feels good. If I am going to be outside a lot i use neutragena sun block for the face or if I need moisture will use the Roc daily cream with sunblock. I have used Loreal products with sunblock but I have naturally oily skin and I find I shine a lot with that one and need to blot often.

Just on gross humidity levels it sounds normal. The trick is the kind of climate control you have. In Phoenix in the Summer, for instance, there's a battle between the dry hot air outside, and the damp, cold air inside. You may find that you really do need a lot less moisturizer in Florida, and also that you may need to change brands. Where in NM, if it's dry, a sealing kind might be good, it could just make you sweat out all the moisturizer and have it run down your face in Florida (I haven't lived there, but I have lived in the tropics).

If you can apply your moisturizer early and give it a chance to really sink in, before you change air (i.e., go outside or get in the car, etc.), you'll have a fighting chance against the ack-it's-humid-and-hot-and-I'm-sweating issue. All this is generality, however. Trial and error are going to be your best bet, once you move. You may find that your favorite products are all wrong in the new environment, and you may get zits or dry patches or new oily zones, which will settle down when your skin becomes accustomed to your new normal.

I walked home to check on the palms last night Mike- it was like an Arctic wasteland-unbelievable! Half of my G-house collapsed,it was a good thing I checked it,I think part of it had to be laying on the space heater. I turned of all the power-there is really no reason to heat with that much snow on everything. Supposed to be -12 tonight,maybe. I figure the snow will insulate everything-gotta leave it as it lays until the lows get into the teens again in a few days. This is about the time of year when I question whether I will continue with this hobby- SPRING usually helps me forget all the white stuff pretty quick- there is a lot to forget on the ground right now,I would guess 15"+ but there's no way to know exactly....... Hello everyone!! Long time no talk!! I been offline from gardenweb for a while now. So... Any one ever heard back from Lisa??? Hope she is ok after hearing the news from her son... If It's actually the truth. But to be honest I feel scammed. Sorry just being straight out. Not by who I traded with but by Lisa because she disappeared conveniently right after the boxes were sent. I tried Retinal... I think, and Vanicream moisturizer. Mostly I forget the retinal. Am I spelling that right? Too lazy to get up and look. I like the moisture cream a lot and it was really cheap. I bought it for my arms with the crepe paper skin. That's better. I don't know about the retinal. In the meantime I bought a bunch of Neutrogena stuff and I like that. The eye cream might be working for those black bags under my eyes. Those are once a day which is good because I'm doing really well if I remember to do it every day. And the wrinkle stuff has the sun screen in it which was also another thing I didn't think about until I was outside. But every 80 minutes is a PITA. I wonder how the neutrogena wrinkle stuff with SPF 30 works all day? Doesn't seem like it would. So that's where I'm at. The driver's license picture is 20 days away. It has to look better than the last one.

The injections such as Juvederm and Botox are done with very fine needles. I'm talking extremely fine. Usually they will administer numbing cream to the area, especially for first-timers. I can take or leave it now that I know what to expect, but I will say that some areas, such as near the corners of the eyes or mouth, are more sensitive than others. And I can tolerate any mild pain well. The needle prick feels like a short, mild prick. I don't think it's bad at all. As to any recovery, there really is none, except usually there should be no physical exercise the remainder of the day of treatment. I ice the area, but sometimes some bruising does occur, so be prepared for that and using concealer for several days. This mostly happens for me with areas around my mouth with Juvederm, not with Botox around my eyes. I had some bad marionette lines too, especially on one side, and have had wonderful results with Juvederm (it's the most current form of it). For me it lasted almost 2 years the first time before I needed a refresh. It's been about 18 months since the refresh and I'm just now talking about when to have the next one. YMMV. I get the Botox about twice a year around my eyes and the 'elevens' in my forehead(those wrinkles caused from squinting). Hope this helps.

When we lived in Santa Fe, I kept some lotion on my desk, in my car, next to my recliner at home and more in the bathroom. I used all of them.

Albuquerque is at 5,000 feet; that is a lot different than Oklahoma. Santa Fe is at 7,000 feet. Right after a decent snow in Santa Fe, nothing melted, it evaporated. The gutters were dry and the snow went away. That is dry!

And...be glad that you aren't like me - no hair on the top of the head. That adds more area to apply the lotion!!

I rarely use any moisturizer here in Fl. Sunscreen sometimes.

Floridian here, I use the one linked. It's oil free and feels light. It also has the important spf #15. Available at most Drug stores.

Winter was extra hot on Maui this year. I was using CeraVe morning and night, and it wasn't enough. About seven years ago, DH developed an allergic reaction to things he'd used most of his life, largely because of the preservatives now used in most soaps, shampoos, and lotions. Now he uses only glycerin soap and Aveno moisturizing lotion. I used to use plain old Lubriderm on my face as well as my body after bathing. Now that stings when I put it on my face. The CeraVe doesn't; also comes with light sunblock.
