Looking for Pocket Doors - Top half window, bottom half panel
Comments (4)You will be able to find exactly what you want on the TruStile website. They have a very usable door designer application. They do MDF as well as just about any wood you want. You can specify sticking, panel designs, and even the glass. When you order the door from your local TruStile rep, just specify a door blank and then your builder will hang it on the Pocket Door track. Make sure you get the weight of the door blank so your builder gets the correct hardware. Comments (19)mtbgirl: Does that "mtb" stand for mountain bike?? We're big mtb'ers here! Hmmmm...the Samsung thing. The 29 CF FD got the JD Powers award for four years in a row. Its gotten alot of raves on this forum, I believe. Its not the one Im looking at but I've heard a lot of positive things about Samsung refrigerators. Now, Ive also heard some negative but the thing is, is that I read ALOT of reviews of brands that are in my price range (GE Profile, Samsung, Whirlpool) and there is so much positive/negative on them all that its really hard to make a decision. You find a brand that gets a LOT of positive reviews and just about make up your mind but then all of a sudden come across three or four negatives and-BAM-your decision is blown out of the water. I did look at Consumer Reports (which I know doesnt hold a lot of weight on this forum) and the Samsung was rated 4th, so..... Now, about Warehouse Discount Center....the thought of purchasing an appliance online scares me but if I could save that much money then I'd consider it. Have you ordered from them? Are they legit? Thanks for all of your input!...See MoreDo you like your single door bottom freezer fridge?
Comments (22)Nope. There just isn't enough freezer space. UGH!! With the pull-out basket, you really lose a lot of space as compared to the old, freezer-on-top, shelf but no pull-out style. Granted, you have to have a pull-out with a bottom freezer (a shelf wouldn't work well), but, it's such a waste of space. If I had a separate freezer elsewhere in the house, I wouldn't mind so much, but as it is, I feel *very* limited in how much freezer space I have -- and that's for just one or two people. If I had to feed a whole family with such a small freezer, I'd really find it difficult -- unless we ate out a whole heck of a lot (actually, I'd just HAVE to put in at least a small chest freezer somewhere in the house!). <:>Um, yes, I *do* like to cook. And buy stuff on sale. Hence the need for a decent-sized freezer. ;P So you might want to consider whether the freezer space will be sufficient for you. I didn't realize how much less space I would have, even though I chose the largest fridge/freezer I could -- *and*, it's larger than my old freezer-on-top, yet holds less frozen food. Sigh....See MoreHow do you 'fill' the hole at the bottom of french doors?
Comments (46)All of the answers are wrong. I recently went through this and hired a pro to fix it. For $1400 he shoved some weather stripping in my 4 sets of french doors. This is a garbage fix. Finally I fixed all 4 doors myself. What you need is a bump threshold. M-D Building Products 69709 1-Inch by 3-1/4-Inch by 73-1/8-Inch TH153 Bumper Threshold, Bronze https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YUGSCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_6VAqMTR5lSupb The bump threshold provides a solid aluminum bottom edge for the doors to seal against, with a silicon gasket. I used an oscillating saw to cut the bottom of the astragal so the astragal won’t hit the bump threshold. In my last house I had Anderson Architectural French doors. What I loved is that it was a single unit that included a gasketted seal on the bottom. Essentially a jam, just like on the top and sides. You could turn a hose on for an hour and you would not get a drop of water inside. They key is that the bottom has a jam too. So when I searched for a fix for my shitty-installed french doors on my new house, I wanted to reproduce this solid edge seal on the bottom. And after much searching I found the MD bump threshold. In addition I replaced the door shoes with M-D Building Products 43337 M-D... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PKSFEAI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share And I replaced the drip caps: M-D Building Products 68734 1-7/8-Inch Vinyl - 36-Inch DB037 Door Sweep with Drip Cap, Bronze https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001M58S8I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_pKixN4pHg3L89 I also recommend this adjustable stripe plate which helps make sure your door latch engages at the right place so you get that satisfying “thunk” when you close the door and feel it latch into place at exactly the right place for the door bottom to seal tightly against the bump seal. Defender Security U 9488... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D2K39BM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Overall, fixing a shitty French door installation isn’t easy. But if you are weekend warrior, then installing a bump seal might be for you!...See Moremillworkman
