Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my japanese maple?
Comments (4)I can't say that I have ever seen bark discoloration quite that pronounced :-) Typically one sees the reverse or the top portion of the branch - the part exposed to sunlight - scorching or discoloring. Having said that, there are a number of diseases that affect Japanese maples that can result in both branch/stem dieback as well as discoloration of the wood. Just unlikely to be so precise with that discoloration:-) The various maple pathogens can look remarkably alike, so an accurate diagnosis is best left to a plant pathologist. Some can be debilitating and damaging; others can be fatal and there is seldom an easy cure. Pruning out obviously dead wood is aways appropriate - just sterilize pruners after each cut....See MoreCan anyone tell me what these are?

Comments (8)Be VERY careful with Carrera marble from any big box stores. One cannot choose ones tiles - they come by the box and it's not unusual for half or more of a box to be tiles that don't match. And no, they cannot be returned! I had very good luck with consistent color with my Carrera marble large subway tiles I bought from https://www.carraratiles.com. They were very easy to work with, knew what color their tiles were coming in (white/more gray) and actually assigned them a dye lot number. Mine came in uniformly white and my tile setter said he never had to even look in the boxes and select a "good one" - he just took them out as they came, they were so even. None of that "order 20% more for color matching" nonsense....See MoreCan anyone tell me what this is growing behind my fence?
Comments (10)as wood rots or decays... mushrooms take advantage of the situation ... i consider it a free show from ma nature.. and revel in it ... it is very common.. when a tree is removed.. that for years after.. mushrooms or fungi show up in the lawn.. as the roots rot ... and there really isnt much you can do about it ... so you may as well learn to like it ... one thing for sure ... just to be careful ... if there are children around ... who happen to like mushrooms .. that they are taught all mushrooms come from the parental unit.. and not from the lawn ... most children are trainable ... lol ... ken...See More- 5 years ago
