can you tell me what is growing around my weeping willow?
Comments (12)helenh: no the leaves on the trees will not be shady enough to kill it. i just googled creeping charley and it says it thrives in shady spots anyway. paula in pa...you got it, i think it IS creeping charly. about the roundup...will that kill the grass? And does anyone know why it would grow around the tree other than because of the shade? I assumed it was soemthing falling from the willow and causing the weeds to grow...but i didnt' see anything about it being caused by a willow, so is that all just a coincidence that it is all around this willow tree?...See MoreCan anyone tell me what is wrong with my Thuja Green Giants?
Comments (11)to repeat some ... interior browning is normal.. no conifer holds its needles forever ... they are a full sun plant for prime growth.. yours appear shaded.. which will not hurt them.. other than reduce vigor to some extent ... i doubt they had mites ... i think your sales man made part of a boat payment ... otherwise ... and this is going to be hard for you ... THEY LOOK ABOUT NORMAL... you have rather large transplants.. that is not favored here ... they take longer to get 'established' ... and the shade issue may extend that .. and they are probably still working on that ... seriously .. that looks like a normal GG .. and its alive.. what more do you want ... seriously.. they grew 2 feet in a year.. 2 years after a large transplant.. and you are not happy about it???? what more can they do.. barbie you a burger and fetch a beer .. then what.. you will complain the beer was warm .... lol i suspect.. your only problem is your expectations of more ... GG NEVER live up to the hype that surrounds them .. they are not going to grow 3 to 5 or more feet per year .. IMHO good luck ken...See MoreCan anyone tell me which conifers grow well in 6b?
Comments (12)I'm going to contact houzz with a recommendation (surely to be ignored) about making some kind of reminder appear for new posters, saying they should state their part of the country. Far too much time is wasted dealing with that, each time a n00b comes along. Back in 2008 I was asked to help someone create a lawn care forum. The very first contribution I made was to have a mandatory field for registration asking where they live. There are people who don't get it at first and put in "midwest" or something equally vague. Once we explain it to them, they all give us a city and state. The ones that get me say SoCal. Well...that reaches from Bakersfield to San Diego from Santa Barbara to Blythe. It goes from 50 feet below sea level to 10,000 feet with hills and mountains all over. Just saying SoCal is meaningless. Even saying Los Angeles is meaningless, because nobody really lives in Los Angeles. Santa Monica and Long beach are much different from Pasadena or Pomona....See MoreCan anyone tell me what size wood was used in this fence?
Comments (6)Wow Beverly. Thank you so much! It is probably out of my price range but I will look. Flo-my Doberman is never outside alone and I am getting a new one next week so planning ahead for the unknown personality of my puppy. Really, Dobermans jump 6 feet or more so there really is not a containment fence for them anyway. They don’t really have a desire to wander as they were genetically selected to walk next to their person (bred to walk next to the tax collectors for security in late 1800s). I know... more than you ever wanted to know about Dobermans-I have a passion for the breed. Thank you again! Sorry I missed these posts. I haven’t quite mastered the new houzz yet-if I ever will....See MoreAngela McNally
