Paint colour And decor help/ideas...please!
Comments (12)Pretty bedding -- and I love your ideas! :) How about this paint color -- and fresh white trim (try BM White dove) with fresh white sheers (for the warm weather) -- and then add rich dark chocolate brown velvet panels for the cooler weather. You could also do white sheets for a change with your bedding ... again ... nice for the warmer weather. Add lots of pewter/silver items around the whole room -- silver photo frames; maybe add a silver tray on a dresser with a silver-framed mirror? Here is a link that might be useful: BM -- Silver Fox paint color...See MoreHelp me paint & decorate - PLEASE!
Comments (20)When I look at this room, I see it with the potential for a gorgeous Swedish Country effect. I know deeper wall colors are the trend right now, but I would actually consider painting the walls a warm creamy white to bring out the the wood rather than tone it down. Then I would color through furniture/fabric/accessories. I would definitely bring in a cool blue (the robin's egg from reno_fans thread is gorgeous but can't tell from the monitor if it would work with your quilt). Swedish Country is all about painted furniture--and light/pale colors. I woulld paint the dresser with the tv a lovely shade of pale blue then distress it. I think you could even get away with keeping the existing hardware. Your quilt is lovely, but I'm not sure I like it spread out on the bed. I would consider a creamy matelaisse coverlet with the quilt folded in half or thirds and placed at the bottom of the bed. Add another set of pillow to match the coverlet behind the quilt shams. Then I would pick up a smaller print fabric--perhaps an open check to use for a dust ruffle and decorate pillow on top. Throw in some white eyelet wherever possible (perhaps layer two bedskirts), and perhaps and eyelet decorative pillow or even eyelet sheets. A small pine or painted bench with a coordinating fabric cushion and decorative pillows would really add warmth and charm. I agree that wood floors would be fabulous in this room, but if not hooked or needlepoint area rugs would be great. To be honest, I think a nice quality lace panel would look great at your windows if you went towards the style I've suggested. I think you need more fullness though. Try Country Curtains (on-line catalog). Their quality is good. I would consider getting them as full as possible and then pulling them back off the windows with a nice painted (I've seen some with handpainting that are gorgeous) or even colored glass (again, Country Curtains carries these I think). If you don't want lace, consider panels in a coordinating fabric (again, perhaps an open check) that matches decorative pillow/bench cushions, etc. Look around at swedish country style on the internet....See MorePlease help decorate my freshly painted master bedroom
Comments (21)I think you’re going to need a bit of contrast or the room will fall completely flat. Dove is a white but a crisp white will still give you a cleaner feeling in there. Since you want a monochromatic room you’re going to have to use as much contrast however slight you can and a ton of texture. For drapery panels i would do a linen with texture and hang them all the way to the ceiling....See MorePlease help with suggestions for rug, curtains& decor!
Comments (14)okay..so I see some preference for muted yet strong colors, reds, blues..tribal rugs(great choice for the room btw)..I think though the room is too strong of a rustic character to pull off too many valances-and swags- type of curtains, as on your first inspiration pic. You also love industrial elements-so don't sway too cute. You need the right balance between everything you love. You can definitely though make window treatments feel cozy with the right type of fabric. I'd choose linen or cotton, and depending on other elements, I can have them solids, florals, plaid.. Can you do the following exercise? Take out all the fabrics currently in the room. (well leave the curtains..I imagine it's too much for an exercize lol) .Including the rug. Temporarily. Give yourself several hours just looking at it while it's emptier. Look at it from different angles. Sit on the floor if you wish)) Changing physical position in space helps mental process. Why-I've no idea. I just know it's helpful. It might be that at first you'll feel or see nothing much Then it'll change though. You'll have some vague or more definite ideas ..say, you'd envision the rug and decide to start from that. Or you'd want to rearrange something on the walls-and it'd give you ideas about window treatments. Or you'll picture some pillow you saw and loved. It is overwhelming, as every new thing we are to start. So make it a bit less overwhelming. One step at a time. Your first step-listening to the room and yourself. I can make specific suggestions of course. But I think you'll enjoy the process more this way. I think you'll love creating. It is creating after all, to a degree. You'll get that spark, that starting moment. Then it'll be many ideas. More than you want)) Then it'll be narrowing them down:)...See Morel pinkmountain
