Comments (14)Hello! This is awesome information, thank you all so much!! ttodd - so you used fabric glue instead of sewing? Was it messy? Do you think it will hold over time? I was thinking of sewing it as I have never used the glue. charlieinnj - wow! That looks great! I'd like to try this as well. Sleek/comtempory...yes this is exactly what I am going for. Yes, the quilt wall hanging may not work! LOL! I'll have to break that to dh. Ok, about the fabric repeating exactly...I wonder if one 84" or 96" curtain panel will be enough fabric to accomplish this? This is a curtain panel that I found, not fabric. blondepegasus - yes, I will have the yellow ribbon on the curtains, the yellow in the fabric wall hangings, yellow pillows on the chair. I'm so excited to get started on these projects!! Thanks!! Elaine...See MoreArt/Decor Suggestions Please
Comments (69)P Banos: Thank you for your thoughts; I agree, I initially wanted a much larger piece there!! I just couldn't figure out how to make it work with the lamps. They would end up blocking the art. I can't move them much further apart because the right one would end up right at the corner of that wall, which would look off. Is it okay to have them block the art in this scenario? I'll photoshop three examples (same random painting I happened to screenshot) ... you tell me where I'm wrong in size/placement (keeping in mind the lamps can't be moved apart much further); do any of these work? Largest size, not centered over sofa but centered on the wall... Still large, but a bit smaller to allow for centering over sofa (still blocked by lamps)... Narrower width, portrait orientation (width would have to be just a bit wider than the current painting to somewhat fit between lamps)... Thoughts?...See MorePlease help me with decor or suggest a new paint color??
Comments (3)You're right, the pink is not working with the cabinet. I think another shade of pink would work if you still want to go down that road. Otherwise, I think the previous poster is right - a white with a gray undertone would be nice. It looks like your cabinet is a warm white, but I can't be sure since the pink is probably effecting its appearance. If it is warm, be sure to choose a warm white. You will have to choose some color for an undertone because you'll never be able to match the cabinet exactly and if you're off just a little bit it will be as bad as the current color. If you like Benjamin Moore instead of SW (everyone has their preference), I would try Ballet White, Seapearl, Classic Gray or Gray Mist. Maybe invest in a sample can first before repainting the whole room....See MoreDesigning front room of NYC apartment - rugs, curtains, decor?
Comments (18)Love the Oriental rug in there, with snake rug outside the door (pic 3). I really like this room and your style and think that rug brings in just the right amount of traditional for a wonderful eclectic, collected look. Very high-end European feel. I wouldn’t look for a graphic or abstract rug that only has colors that match other elements. Not for this room. Not much I’d change. It looks very personal, and sophisticated, instead of the no character bland staged color-by-numbers look. It’s refreshing to see here. Love your curtains. The only thing I’d do is find some beautiful pillows, as if they were art. Maybe a whimsical, but elegant, animal print mixed in with others. And if you like plants, I think a few might look nice....See MoreNatasha McComas
