Help me pick color for bedroom
Comments (3)BM Kennebunkport Green SW Khaki Shade Blues with dark brown screams Grandma to me, but I'm probably biased since my own had this color scheme. Would you consider orange? Not pumpkin or loud or gawdy, but a nice subtle mature classy looking orange? I have links saved on my computer at home with some examples of stunning oranges that the average person wouldn't think of as a wall color but once you see the pics they're quite adorable. Sherwin William has some nice subtle orange colors if you want to take a look at their color palette. It would also brighten up the room nicely. Here is a link that might be useful: This orange is nice...See MorePlease help me pick a sofa table for my bedroom
Comments (19)Hello Everyone! Thank you so much for all of your suggestions!! Les917 - I wondered if anyone would mention that space between the pictures! Actually I'll be mounting 3 sea stars in that space, I'm just waiting for them to arrive. teacats - I love the idea of a mirror over the dresser. It definately needs something. We've only been in our home since Sept. so we've just started to mount pictures and decorate the walls. I love the idea of the tall thin black lamps to frame the mirror. I'm not sure yet where I want the photo that is currently over the dresser. It's not mounted because I haven't felt like it belongs there. I'm not sure about putting anything above the bed. The bed is so imposing that I have been afraid that adding anything more above it, would just magnify that. Because the headboard is so high, it just seems to me that adding something above it would be overkill. The ceiling in that alcove was done that way by the builder. It is textured just like the room ceiling is, so I am thinking that it was designed to be ceiling. The plan had an overhead ceiling light in that space that we did not choose to go with. If I leave the photos as they are, add the mirror and black lamps to the dresser, and decide to go with 2 matching nightstands...what color should I go with? Black, white? Thanks!...See MoreHelp me pick a stain for my bedroom furniture
Comments (8)I think it depends upon what the mahogany looks like with the current semi-opaque finish removed. My stairs are mahogany and once we stripped them we decided that no stain was needed, just a protective finish. They are a medium tone slightly less orange than the Michael Taylor piece with no stain at all. If not, I would go no darker than light walnut or special walnut. The 1st dibs piece looks nice, but to me it looks like newer furniture with vintage hardware on it in that finish--to me it has lost something. I tend to be a purist of sorts though, and I think this piece, much like Heywood Wakefield, puts its best foot forward in the original finishes, even if refinished to duplicate the original....See MoreHelp me pick a paint color for my bedroom
Comments (2)What do you want the room to feel like? If you want calm and relaxing, you can’t go wrong with a soft blue which will look good with the wood tones you have and offer some flow with the gray in the other rooms. When I did our guest bedroom I used Hinting Blue by SW, loved it so much I put it in our master as well. I exhale every time I enter the room. If you want drama, a deep dark color like eggplant would look amazing, with some olive accessories, it would be gorgeous. happy and and casual, a soft almost shear apple green with some coral accents would be fresh and current....See MoreUser
