Hardwood floor stain - please help me choose (PICTURES)
Comments (27)Here's the final result with #3 (50% classic gray and 50% weathered oak). The pictures vary depending on the angle/lighting and may not do it justice, it looks great to us, nice neutral grey/brown color that isn't too dark (or too light). Some "pink" hues may just barely show from the red oak but it's only after I analyzed the pictures on my computer that this occurred to me, in real life it's not something we personally see. Thanks for everyone's input....See More3 1/4" or 5" Red Oak Hardwood Floors?
Comments (7)We replaced most of the flooring on our main level with site finished 5" red oak earlier this year (upper level and one room remains 2 1/4"), so I don't have any long term experiences yet. However, I did have some of the same concerns that you have. In my attempt to research, I concluded that the homes that tended to have issues were ones where the 5" hardwoods were installed over a crawlspace. I really like the way our floors turned out, but be aware that the board lengths will be shorter than the narrower width planks. We have not yet repainted, so please ignore the battered paint...See Moreflooring 3 1/4 hard wood versus 6 inch engineered wood floor
Comments (5)When it comes to "trends" vs. "timelessness" you want to look at your personal timeline for selling. Are you planning to sell in the next 5-7 years? If so, go with the trend and ignore your own tastes. If you sell in a few years then you are not buying/constructing the home for yourself. You are creating it for the NEXT buyer. If you are in it for the long haul (7+ years) then you put in the floor that makes YOU happy and that makes YOU smile and that makes YOU feel better about your choices. If you want flooring that can be "extended" into other areas for a later remodel (like in 10 years time) then work with the 3" product. It will be around for a long, long, long time. Wide planks are trending HEAVILY right now. They come and go. And if you are in there for 10+ years, you will want to have the option of refinishing so that when it comes time to sell, you can update your floors for $5/sf instead of having to pay someone to rip out and replace the floors ($10+ per square foot for a job like that)....See MorePLEASE HELP ME FIND A STAIN FOR REDOAK HARDWOOD FLOORING
Comments (11)@nhb22 I absolutely love the contrast of your flooring against the white & your countertops ( which are Beautiful btw) My friend has them. Mine im worried about bc of the blue in there ! I'm hoping it doesn't look like a big blue iceberg lol That's why I " tried" going w a paint color that had no blue or undertones! i didn't have much a selection to choose from w the quartzite. I almost got quartz but idk I thought it " might" be trendy w the look I was going for & guess wanted a natural stone. I see them everywhere now & kinda kick myself but ?? Now I need a backsplash & love subway tiles what color are yours...See MoreSJ McCarthy
