Should I paint area in tray ceiling something other than white?

My new build is getting close to complete, they are painting the interior now. I have a tray ceiling in the master bedroom, with crown molding at the bottom of it, and putting tape lighting in the crown cavity to illuminate the tray ceiling area. Six 4" recessed cans surround the tray ceiling, and we are going to put some sort of light or fan in the center of the tray ceiling area.

So right now, the whole ceiling is painted white, and the crown trim is like a semi gloss white. Walls in the room are Sherwin Williams accessible beige. I've seen a few pics online where the short walls and ceiling in the tray area were painted a different color, and I like the look. Was thinking about using accessible beige in that area too, or a slightly darker shade of it. But the bedroom is not big, would it make the bedroom appear smaller?

Your bathroom looks great so far! We used WM in our kitchen, and in looking for paint colors for our glass BS, we found that greenish grays or blue-green greys looked best with the WM. (Charcoal also looks good, but probably would not work well with your floors.) Take a look at Dusty Dream (DE6312) by Dunn Edwards. The sample we tried looked great with the WM. We went one shade lighter (Haze Blue) for our BS because we have walnut cabinets and wanted a lighter shade on the walls, but Dusty Dream would look great for cabinets, IMHO. A couple of the darker shades on that swatch card could also work well. One card over, Grey Flannel (DE6319) was also a color that looked really good with WM. The Advantage line from Bridgewood. Their website doesn't show all their colors, but the newest catalog we got from the cabinet dealer does, guess they haven't updated yet. Ours were just installed this week and I'm very happy with them. Here is a link that might be useful: Advantage

Kitchen ceilings other than white?

Our walls are Behr Cornerstone (sort of a vanilla color). When I repaint (after backsplash goes in) I plan to switch to a similar color (probably Farrow & Ball) and paint the ceiling the same color as the walls. The color is light, so I don't think the painted ceiling will feel oppressive. My ceilings are only 8'3" in the kitchen. When I repaint the great room (not until it needs it) I will paint the ceiling a color darker than the walls (currently Asian Jute) in order to lower it (it's 17') and will add crown molding at that point as well. My master bedroom has all kinds of slanted ceiling angles so we painted it all the same color (the Cornerstone again). I'm going to repaint it all green, maybe EK Tulip Leaves (still unsure). I'm a little more afraid of this one because the ceiling is only 10'6" or so and it will be a LOT of green. I would go for it. But roll it with a low nap roller, don't spray.

Have you considered having a combination of two different finishes, especially if it's a large kitchen with a lot of cabinets? I have ivory glazed cabs on the interior which houses the stove/ovens/dishwasher/sink and espresso stained elderwood on the perimeter cabs, also where the fridge is located. I didn't want the typical all stained/painted cabs found in the manority of homes. Just another consideration.
