e-coli and HUS
Comments (8)E-coli is an illness caused by a bacteria. The bacteria itself comes in many strains, and is very common in the intestinal tract of humans and animals. It's mainly spread by unwashed hands after using the bathroom or after coming into contact with soils that contain animal waste. Foods with a high moisture and protein content (such as meats) allow the bacteria to thrive, and, if stored at improper temperatures, multiply rapidly. E-Coli bacteria are killed by cooking, which is one reason it's important to cook meats, particularly ground meats, thoroughly. (The interior of an intact cut of meat may safely be left rare since it did not come into contact with the bacteria.) The best prevention is a combination of thorough hand-washing, proper sanitation of food prep surfaces, cooking to proper temperatures, and maintaining food at safe storage temperatures (either hot or cold - not in between). When live bacteria are ingested in sufficient numbers, they can cause an infection and produce some nasty toxins. Most often, it's the very young and old and those with compromised immune systems who are most affected....See MoreThis is why you don't pick paint colours off the internet
Comments (56)Or because you trusted what you saw online vs. a chip in your hand and a sample in your own space, you missed out on a legitimate contender for a pretty gold. Because you have zero information about the quality of the actual photo, the camera used, the lighting or how the file was saved for the web - or even if the paint color was correctly identified. I can't say it enough, that there is absolutely nothing about viewing color on a monitor that is trustworthy or useful. Anything's possible of course but I think tell ten or so photos I looked at that all told the same story...were likely telling a similar story. I need all the help I can get and online research is the second tool in the toolbox after my fandecks. I look for multiple photos of any color I'm considering and use them to help me narrow down my options, since I'm not inclined to put up a million samples, especially since I'm now paying $10 a sample (!!!) Once my options are a bit narrower, I go to tool 3, start sampling. Unfortunately I can't commit to every chip... I'm now on my fourth gold sample...$40 down the drain already, and I haven't even lifted up a roller, all from small chips I thought looked perfectly nice in the space. I have an unfortunate combo of good color sensitivity and pickiness with low prediction of how a paint chip will translate to an entire room. And laziness over painting, which I detest....See MoreWho is HU-(various random numbers) ?
Comments (17)I flag a lot of self-promoting spam threads on the Landscape Design forum and they disappear almost immediately. Same with any of the cooking or movie spammers. Now I have no way of knowing if anyone else flags them as well but the speed with which they vanish would indicate not. They certainly don't hang around!! I think the Houzz 'powers that be' are very intent in keeping the forums spam-free....See MoreWhy did my Buff Beauty turn pink???
Comments (50)I'll take a look at mine when I get home. It's a lovely rose and is currently in bloom. FIY, Clotilde Soupert has small flowers not much larger than BubbleBath. It's a polyantha, so small flowers. However, yours is definitely not CS due to the thorns. BB definitely has thorns! Let me dig up a pic of mine last when it was in a pot. I've never taken any since planting it for some reason. Your rose has Hybrid Musk written all over it. Here are those pic King at these photos I think you have bubble bath but I'll have to take some pictures of the buds to see if they match yours and also a closer look at the shape of the thorns. I'll try and take some today to see what it's doing now....See Morehcbm
