Help. I'm stuck with this awkward living room and I don't know how to arrange furniture and where to place the tv.... ahhhh

1. This is the only room on the first floor that we can actually use as a living room.

2. Right now the tv is mounted above the fireplace, it can be pushed closer to the wall (waiting for the right mount), but it CAN'T be mounted lower. (this is because of the predrilled holes on the back of the tv)

3. The reclining sofa doesn't have to stay, the rug is just an old rug so we can toss that too. We moved from an apt so we don't have much stuff.

We're not really tv people, we don't watch tv, just Netflix here and there. This is the only tv in the house now and it's brand new so we can't get rid of it (65"). We also want to keep a tv in the living room so we can play games with friends when they come over, we love interactive games like Fibbage and Drawful.

Is there anything we can do to make the living room less awkward? One of the things that's driving us crazy is that the couch is too close to the tv and it's very uncomfortable to watch tv. The TV is too high...
