I painted my powder room in SW Jogging Path. It is soooo pretty (to me, anyway). I put beadboard wallpaper to chair rail height and painted the green above. It's just a really soft color. I will tell you, though, that I'm not sure how/why I chose it; it's not that amazing on the fan deck. Another thing to consider, too, is that my bathroom has no windows and the bright white beadboard may affect the green color. I said all that to say that while I love it, your mileage may vary depending on lighting, etc. in your room. I'm considering SW Collonade Gray for my master bath. It's a sort of grayish green. @designinteriorsouth Please see my responses following your questions. 1. Your bedside tables are just floating and the bed is completely overpowering them. Add your heavy high boy dresser and it will really accentuate this fact. Are these new? Can they be returned and replaced? You need more solid bedside tables. -- Sadly, the only thing that I can return is the dresser. It is not as high as it appears in the photo (if that helps) 38” W x 46” H. I was truly in love with the nightstands and the bed. The nightstands arrived prior to the bed and once the bed was put in place, I too felt that. The wall sconces did help balance it out a bit. Do you have any suggestions if we were to keep these, because I am not able to part ways with them. 2. Run the wires to your sconces tightly down the wall or horizontally and then down behind the head board. Any exposed wire should be taught and then paint it the color of the wall. -- Good point. Another comment mentions the same. :) I've been searching for a brass cord cover, but will simply paint the cord of this one as you suggest. 3. Anchor the foot of your bed with a bench or two stools. -- I was going to definitely do that, but do you think there is enough carpet space? 4. Keep your draperies neutral and just get ones with darkening lining. Your sheers are too short. -- Neutral as in beige/grey linen neutral enough? 5. I am finding your rug choice with the fabric on your bed and then your wall color all don't relate to each other. You have 3 separate elements here. Were they all chosen in conjunction together? I would bring in a lot of texture.-- Yes, sadly I chose all in conjunction together. I must have horrible taste :P.

You may want to start saving inspiration rooms you love; it will really help if you have a direction. I would purchase the rug fist vs bedding and cushions so you have a style to build on. Be sure to use various colors, patterns and textures so it feels more interesting The headboard is high and I think art above each night stand would be more complimentary and use small brass lamps for a modern look. You could add the sign on another wall If you need a bedskirt, a more tailored style would feel more modern Dresser and tv wall - mirror, plant, chair, art, baskets

Multiple thoughts, not all in line with the majority: - Five bedrooms is a huge house. The potential field of buyers who want the space and upkeep of a house that large (and who can afford it) is relatively small. More plainly, You're looking to build a house that only a small percentage of buyers can afford to buy. Wanting a thing and being able to afford a thing aren't the same. Your pool of resale buyers will be small, so selling could take a long time, or you might be forced to take less than you want. - Yes, people will like the idea of a "master up and a master down": live-in space for mom, space for a live-in nanny or elder care-giver. Plenty of reasons people would like the space. But the real question is, Will your resale buyer be willing to pay what it will cost you to build it? Personally, I think you'll attract plenty of interest, but you may not attract the necessary dollars at resale to make this worthwhile. - How old are these small children? By the time you finish building this house, they'll probably be at least a year older -- how long will you want to have bedrooms close by? - I'm a highly practical person: you're talking about a short time when kids are small. To save money, could you sleep in a "non-master" upstairs for this short time, then move downstairs? - How "master" do you see your "masters"? That is, when you say "master bedroom", are you envisioning a slightly larger room with a modest walk-in closet and a private 3-piece bath ... or does "master" to you mean a spacious room with a seating area, a massive closet and a luxury bath? The question isn't just, "Should I have two masters?" It's, "Just how much will I put into a master?" Your own vision of "how much" can make a world of difference in this question. - Don't overbuild for your neighborhood. Remember that the biggest, most expensive house in the neighborhood is "drawn down" by the more modest houses that surround it. - Summary: Don't be caught up in just whether this is a desirable idea -- it is. Consider first and foremost whether it is an economically viable idea.
