Will this vanity size work with my sconce placement?
Comments (4)If you want the sconces centered over the vanity, you need one that's 42" wide - that would give you 4" on the outside of each sconce. If the vanity is in a recessed installation, the balance would be really important, I think. But if it's just open space to one side of the vanity, maybe it could work. You could do a mockup to see if the 38" vanity would look really out-of-whack with the sconce placement....See MorePlumbing a dresser for vanity
Comments (2)You can narrow the bottom drawers by cutting the box in half and leaving the front the same size. This would give you a vertical space in the middle and four drawers to use, although the bottom ones are not as wide as before....See MoreWould this rug work in my master bath?
Comments (16)aktillery: I will definitely plan to check out TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Tuesday Morning before I order anything online. It does help to know in advance what will work or not. Your rug is very pretty there. lyban: I looked at that rug which is pretty also. WIth the 5' rug, though, when we stand in front of our sinks, then one foot would be on and the other off the rug. Since I found the 6' rugs at overstock, I think I'd take a chance on one of those before getting a 5' rug. I think a 7' rug could work if it looks really good. I think I might try an online chat with one of the folks on the HD website and see if they can recommend any in that size since I can't narrow down the runner size so much in the search function. shee: I want something more plush in our bathroom because we're pretty careful; in the girl's bath I am considering that indoor/outdoor one as I'd be kidding myself to think I won't need to clean it as old rugs in that bathroom I've been washing every 2 weeks or so. Also, the print looks more "fun" for them plus a tad busy so the makeup stains, etc. hopefully won't show so much. I've tried talking to my DD to be more careful, but so far, not much luck though we have made her responsible for cleaning it. My 9-year-old DD is much cleaner and more systematic than her. I think she has inherited my decorating gene, but it's skipped over the 16-year-old. She more like her Dad, huge into sports, science, etc.... and makeup (not like the Dad)!...See MoreWould this work for a vanity top?
Comments (10)18" would be fine with me (we have had shallow vanities before) but I am concerned about how much we would have to trim off so it will line up with the wall. I also am not timid about have wood for counters. We made a vanity top out of wood at a previous house over 25 years ago. It held up well. We currently have wood counters we made out of 2x8's in our kitchen. They were supposed to be a temporary counter because I wanted granite but couldn't afford it. That was almost 15 years ago... they are still there....See Morezneret
