A purple/mauve member of the Rose family- Rubus odoratus

Rose "family" news: My two year old Rubus odoratus (fragrant raspberry) is blooming for the first time!
This is a native plant (east coast west to Wisconsin). I have it in a shady area with evergreens to its west and south and in rather dryish soil (not by plan, but by root competion). The flowers are supposed to be fragrant, but I haven't noticed that yet. It doesn't have thorns, and has very attractive soft maple-shaped leaves. The canes, according to the literature, are perennial, rather than the more common red raspberry plant whose canes are biannual. I don't know yet, but I do like its softly spreading, low (about 30") habit. I love the flowers! They are about 2 1/2 " wide.
