Shopping for an Island Hood: Jenn-Air vs GE Monogram
Comments (2)Hi Mike/Kooshead, It's funny, your renovation sounds just like mine. Only diff is that I'm in a ranch-style house and our kitchen, when the walls come down, will be visible from the LR and DR. Any chance you can share some photos of how it turned out? I too am looking for the right island hood. if you want to email them to me, please go to "my page" for my email. thanks!...See MoreNeed help for appliances - Jenn Air or GE Profile
Comments (0)I thought I had my appliances figured out, until I went and saw them in person. I was originally going to get the GE Profile stainless top double oven range ( pgb975em), otr microwave (pvm1870s) and FD refrigerator (pfcs1nfxss). I saw them in white and thought I like them, when I saw the appliances in person I was very disappointed. The grates on the range were a mess (looked like the finish was coming off and even had some spots that looked like rust),cooktop had scratches, plastic knobs. The refrigerator handles seemed too bulky for my small kitchen. When I was walking around the store I saw the Jenn Air slide in gas range JGS8850bds, and Jenn Air refrigerator JFC2089HES, I really liked the streamline look of them, and thought they would look a lot better in my kitchen and had a richer look to them. The Jenn Air didn't have the second oven, but I thought I could get the OTC microwave with speed cook convection JMV8166BAS) Does anyone have any of these appliances? Any opinions of what is a better product? Thanks in advance for you help. Gail...See MoreWall Ovens: Electrolux vs. Bosch vs. Jenn Aire
Comments (4)I looked at the Bosch and Electrolux. For some reason, I had it in my head that JennAire was not good value and/or quality/reliability (I started researching last fall so I don't remember all my reasoning or sources). I ordered the regular Electrolux on Monday. I like the smooth rolling racks, covered element and controls. Those set it apart from the Bosch for me. I have a note in my appliances spreadsheet that the Bosch racks seemed flimsy to me in person. You may to check out the GE Monogram which I thought were nice but too square for me, so maybe what you are looking for....See MoreThermador vs Jenn Air Appliances?
Comments (8)Thank you Sabrina Alfin Interiors & Ron Natalie for your replies. I am thinking we need to go back to the drawing board and consider other venting options. The thought of us 'needing' a downdraft kind of backed us into a corner with Jenn-air and the more I read, the more I realized the many reasons downdrafts simply do not work. We priced out both, Jenn-air and Thermador appliances. For the quotes we have received, we are fairly close to spending what we would on Wolf/BlueStar/Subzero/Asko/Bosch products - so that opens up our product selections. It's so easy to get sucked into a 'package deal' with rebates and free products but I'm thinking in the end we would be better off getting the exact appliances we want. I greatly appreciate your input - Thanks!...See More- 5 years ago
