which dining chair w/ which lr curtain??? (long + pics)
Comments (8)Thank you, everyone, for your feedback! My goal was to create a warm, inviting space with neutral walls and floor and lots of color in the accent furnishings. So I agree, akrogirl, that the silver sage curtains seem to be reading too cool for the space. Funny - the very first things I bought for the room were the colorful pillows. Then the sofa and light green chair in front of the window, then the lamp and the red end table. Once I saw them all together, I despaired that they didn't really go, that the room was turning into a hodge-podge. Then I bought the pictures, and like magic, the pictures seemed to tie it all together... (to me, anyway). From the brighter spring green of the arm chair to the cool blue-greens of the lamp and knick knacks (with enough red to tie in the end table and the pillows). So while I agree with wendyb and busybee3 that the silver sage curtains go better in the room, maybe I need to pull in more of the brighter green to keep it from going too blue, too cool? To tie in the green arm chair and the (very warm) picture over the sofa? (Not to mention htnspz's comment about there being enough brown in the room - which is actually part of the reason I decided on a glass top dining table instead a wood top table, though I guess seeing brown chairs through the glass would kind of defeat the purpose!) Actually, htnspz - you mention that I should consider a warmer color for the drapes... not a green? Is there another color you think would work?? So no one has a problem with the wood legs on the green chairs being quite a bit darker than the table? Or with the bright green chairs competing with the red end table (visible on the last two pictures)? Thanks!!!...See MoreDesign Dilemma - Dining Table - Which finish? Help!!!
Comments (21)Holly-Kay - Thanks I think I am leaning to the black for sure. You can purchase the chairs and table separately, or as a set. I haven't read the reviews for the chairs, but for the table alone they were really good. Island - I have 4 parsons type chairs with slip covers. I think the fabric of the slipcovers will soften the look vs. wood chairs. Plus I already have them so no money out of pocket there. And for when I add the leaf and extend the table I will use this bench for additional seating for 2 (cushion to be added and top will be upholstered)....See MoreWhich dining chairs go with this square dining table, cant decide
Comments (2)I agree the brown chairs are too much brown. Of the chairs you show, I like either the orange or blue (based on whatever your color scheme is) and the slight tufting adds some interest. The sea-green chair has too much tufting going on for such a simple table. Actually, the maroon chairs aren't bad, but, doesn't give much contrast to the brown table, IMO, but would work fine. If they are RED, then that's a better contrast. Have you checked the inside leg dimension on the table to ensure any of the optional chairs will fit with enough comfort space (elbow room) for the sitters if you are putting 2 chairs per side? This may help with your decision....See MoreWhich Dining Table Do we Choose?
Comments (2)You need to share measurements of the space. I also will add that the tables you show are too rustic. The wainscoting is quite traditional. At some point you will need to lower the chandelier (30-34” off the table if ceilings are 8’)....See MoreNicole R Dsp
