Counter top, rug, paint choices...please help
Comments (4)I think it is fine that the rug and countertop are not the same pinks. Too much matchy-matchy and the rooms lose depth and interest. Rather than overload on pink, I think it would be nice to pick a pale green for the whole space. It will help your pinks stand out. Or depending on how much wall space you have in the kitchen, you could do a paler shade of green there and a deeper shade of the same family in the DR. Look to the leaves in the rug for help. Think about roses and peonies in artwork, cranberry and burgundy glassware, drapery in a rich plaid or floral that incorporates the pinks and greens...See Morehelp! need to select counter top and sink/faucet asap
Comments (2)I am having a lot of anxiety over this area and am really hoping for some guidance from all the experienced and gifted posters out there - please! We decided on absolute black honed for the counter - now need to decide the thickness. This dining room butler's pantry in the expanded dining room was suppose to appear like 2 independent furniture pieces. KD's goal was nothing like a kitchenette (or the adjacent kitchen) so he did not want 10 feet of a counter - hence the brown "china cabinet" piece steps back from the black "buffet counter" BUT he also planned for the counter heights to be different. The china cabinet has a thick (almost 4") of a wood slab between base and uppers. And he planned for 2 cm for the buffet. I know it is hard from these pictures (I'll try to get by there to get better ones today) but if we use 2 cm granite as recommended by the KD there will be only like 3/4 of an inch difference. If we use 3cm it could be shimmed up slightly to line up with the base of the routed edge on the dining room piece and seem in line. I don't want the 2cm to look like a mistake - a just miss BUT if the design with the step back already commits us to "mismatch" pieces I don't want to do it half way. HELP. I am at the end of a long line of too many decisions and just want this done and moving forward. Any help, suggestions, questions etc. would be GREATLY appreciated....See MorePro and cons of fridge drawer vs an under counter refrigerator ?
Comments (13)I habe refrigerator drawers and they work great. One top is refrigerator and below is a freezer. The top has pre selections of different types of temp settings (snacks, drinks, produce, variety etc) and can manually set the temp the preferred temp too. Freezer is great, it has pre sets as well (chill, deep freeze, spirits) and one great thing is it also has an ice machine if desired. love them, I use them for my drink station and barely touch my wine fridge since it’s mostly for looks and less convenient than fridge drawers! I’ve seen other people use them as a snack station for kids with apples juices cheese strings etc. I love it as a beverage center I can fit a ton of stuff in it: beers ciders wines orange juice etc. I use the freezer for spirits. for the noise, it is so quiet I don’t ever hear it running IMO but the ice machine sure is loud I can hear when the water pump turns on to refill the ice tray and the ice drops into the bucket it’s loud. My cabinet guy never was able to fit it in flat to the rest of the cabinets for some reason, if your considering cabinet ready you may want to check that first. The ice machine doesn’t have a way of recognizing when the bucket is full so you could easily overflow the ice bucket into affinity which is annoying but after some discipline of turning it off and on when needed, it works fine for us. It’s nice not having to use the ice maker in my large freezer because it’s always so full of food and etc. overall love it and will always use them instead of wine fridge/undercounter door fridge....See MoreKitchen cabinet color and counter top help please!
Comments (12)Thanks - and I was planning the white perimeter uppers and lowers with a darker quartz counter top ( i like the darker charcoal -matte finish- on top of the white cabinets)and the light gray island cabinet with marbled quartz top. I do love a dark gray cabinet but I have a small kitchen and worried it may be too dark. We are a family of 5 with three messy kids - although they are getting older and less messy lol. Ill have to look at the stained gray - i just dont like to see the grain of wood in cabinets. This island below has the pendants I will do (I'll do 2 smaller Hicks pendants). I like the look of this island and top and the white cabinets with dark quartz in lower pic what do you think?...See Morewan24
