Houzz User please explain

The KT is inundated by movie spams every morning by Houzz user. Is this the same person with same screen name who posts gardening questions quite frequently?

I think there are a bunch of people, both real and scammers, using that name. A lack of creativity, like using "password" for a password.

I'm guessing the recent movie spammer is a script-kiddie. Knows enough to locate a script, download it and run it but not enough to modify it so as to make it less obvious.

Of the ones I've noticed, all but one (maybe they're learning?) had a display name of "Houzz User".

And all had usernames such as webuser_4233806046 with the numbers being random.

The dash in the URL shows as an underscore in their profile so is their username webuser_4233806046 or webuser-4233806046?

Edit: No, my theory was wrong. I just signed up a test account and was assigned a username of the same "webuser-nnnnnnnnn" form. I did have to enter a display name though. It would not accept blanks.

Google drive is 15gb free. $9.99 per month for 1.tb or $100 per year. Microsoft has the same basic thing with OneDrive and for a single user maybe a bit less costly... 6.99 monthly which includes a subscription to the version of online Office365. Amazon Prime members have unlimited free online photo storage. If computer files are personally or business like priceless, you should at least save a copy online or to some other offsite location. I watched my next door neighbors concrete block home burn completely in probably about 30 minutes one windy night. Cost me a $250 water bill that month mostly in garden hose water to keep my house cool.. watched my fence and some bushes spontaneously combust - now you seem them, poof, now you don't.

People who need to know a particular tree wants to grow over 60 ft. tall where conditions permit are those wanting to plant the same kind where there is room for one about 15 ft. tall. Something that happens a lot, particularly when many appear to think "big tree" = 15 ft. The physical demonstration of genetic programming recorded by those measuring fully developed examples illustrates the inherent character of trees being considered. Doesn't matter if they don't all grow 100 ft. tall everywhere, when even half that would overwhelm the planting site. Or that it might take 50 years for them to get big. It costs thousands of dollars to hire a qualified tree service to remove one big tree in a developed setting, where it can't just be sawed through at the base and allowed to fall where it may. And left to rot. Why ever choose a tree for an inadequate space, when a smaller kind could have been planted instead? Denial that a particular kind does often loom large does not prevent this problem from developing down the road. Plants that burn - or worse - every time there is a sharp winter may not really qualify as landscape staples. Certainly not as the ironclad, fail-proof unchanging purchases probably nearly all non-hobbyists are visualizing at the time they bring landscape plants home and install them. Hence the value of pointing out specific items aren't, in fact totally hardy - as in never damaged by cold. This is why there are hardiness rating systems and hardiness categories like fully hardy, half hardy and so on - people want to know where each plant falls on the spectrum, what to expect.

I think only admins or mods can delete posts. Apparently one of mine was deleted yet I can still see it... no one else can. Mamapinky, I'm sorry and as infuriating as it is, be assured Houzz is not singling you out. They allowed the other fund raisers because it was suggested by, and set up by, a different person.

No letter either. I got my notice from HaveIBeenPwned.com which told me I was pwned. " In mid-2018, the housing design website Houzz suffered a data breach. The company learned of the incident later that year then disclosed it to impacted members in February 2019. Almost 49 million unique email addresses were in the breach alongside names, IP addresses, geographic locations and either salted hashes of passwords or links to social media profiles used to authenticate to the service. I think there is some glitch that causes incomplete profiles to default to "Houzz user". There was someone in one of the forums, a longer term member whose name kept showing up as Houzz User and she couldn't figure out why. I think it finally was fixed.

Hi all, When a user hasn't entered a name, the name that is displayed with their posts is "Houzz user." That might be confusing since it doesn't really differentiate between different profiles, so we are making some adjustments to this to make it easier to distinguish people.

Also, please flag those movie posts (you may already be doing this) because it helps us remove spammers and adjust our filtering to account for this kind of thing.
