Adding an electric fireplace to my condo living room.

I want to add a fireplace to my condo living room and my idea is to hang distressed wood floor-to-ceiling as a backdrop for the fireplace (and a TV). The wall is 161" wide with a 10-ft. ceiling. The fireplace and the TV will both be 48-50" each, which is just short of 1/3 of the width of the wall. How do I know if these proportions would work: 54" boards stacked floor-to-ceiling, with 48 - 50" FP / TV hung on top of the wood. The only thing I have come up with so far is using cardboard cut to size for the wood and the FP/TV and tacking to the wall to see how it looks. Has anyone else done this? Any ideas? I will also need to figure out what to do with the wiring and other accessories (cable boxes, DVR, etc.). I understand that most sound bars can be hung from the TV. All suggestions/advice will be appreciated!
