What do you think of this rug in my living room?
Comments (11)The rug actually works really well with my current window treatments, which are roman shades topped with a valance: I've just been longing for woven wood shades and side panels. I wish that I could buy more of the fabric that I used for the valance and trim on the romans, but I made it from some drapery panels about 6 years ago, and they have been discontinued. I like the look of these panels from West Elm: I have to say, the rug is really growing on me. I got it at the most unexpected place - Big Lots - and it was only $128, and it's 100% wool....See MoreY'all Think I Have Wildlife Issues? No bobcats in my living room.....
Comments (5)I was shocked it would enter the house too, especially in a place like Plano where there's tons of pets. For those of you not familiar with the Dallas suburbs of Plano and Frisco, they have experienced exponential and seemingly never-ending growth the last couple of decades, and there's a perpetual bobcat and coyote problem for residents, largely because so much growth so quickly has left the wildlife with fewer and fewer wild areas in which to live and hunt. Every year there's news stories showing bobcats in yards, on roof tops, walking along fences, strolling through yards, etc. Last year one mama bobcat raised her babies under someone's deck in their backyard. I believe they patiently waited for the babies to grow up enough to start hunting and then had them trapped and relocated. To me, it is amazing the little dog made it safely indoors, albeit injured. I hate to think what might have happened to the min pin if the door had been closed in this instance. I assume her other min pin was in the yard as well but apparently wasn't injured. The worst animal I've ever had run in an open door wasn't even a wild thing. It was a pit bull and it appeared out of nowhere, running in the door as I was walking out. My favorite wildlife invader? Hummingbirds. They seem to feel like they get to know us and they aren't at all shy and will fly in the door every now and then when someone is going in or out or whatever. Once indoors, their favorite thing to do is to perch on a ceiling fan blade and ride it around the room for a while. I have to turn off the fan, wait for it to stop and then try to catch the hummingbird and release it back outdoors, a task made difficult if there is a cat in the living room at the time. I usually have to either put the cat out or in another room so that there's not two of us trying to catch the hummingbird. I believe if a bobcat came indoors, I'd head right out the door, unless I had a cat or dog in the room that I needed to protect. I imagine a bobcat that finds itself accidentally indoors probably wants out of the house as much as the people want it out of the house....See Moremy husband thinks the living room is too cluttered. Comments (32)It looks great now that your chairs are gone. They work nicely at your table. The coffee table is just the right size, and the glass keeps it looking light. Your art is great. I would just rearrange the three pieces next to your large window. Put the sculpture on the top, the smaller picture in the middle, and the larger picture on the bottom - the reverse order that you have it now. It will feel more balanced with the heavier pieces toward the bottom of the room....See MoreHow should I arrange my furniture in my off-centered living room?
Comments (5)You don't really need a coffee table, since you have the side tables. Just tuck a c table under the side of the couch where there is none. That should free up some space. Since you want to put a unit where the chairs are, the chairs will have to be relocated. Even with your two couches and chairs, you only have eight seats. Add more with poofs or ottomans. Relocate the two chairs in front of the fireplace (with their backs to the fireplace). Or as suggested, move the couch that's in front of the window to face the other couch. Then the chairs can go in front of the window. I agree with art going around the tv....See MoreFlo Mangan
