I have two bath mats in my guest bath. One in front of the tub and one in front of the sink. I would agree that if your doors will not open and close over a mat, then I would consider cutting off some of the bottom of the door. If you keep this door closed most of the time, it will improve air circulation as mentioned above. In the master bath because I didn't want to cover up the tile pattern in front of the tub by leaving a mat on the floor all the time, I use a mat like you find in a hotel that is towel material. It hangs on the side of the tub when not in use and gets washed with the towels once a week. They are thinner than most bath mats so that might be another option. As far as fecal matter from flushing the toilets, we close the lid before flushing and bath mats are washable. We originally started closing them when we got our first cat and now it is habit. It only takes a second and l realized I much prefer how it looks when you walk into the bathroom.

Has anyone encountered a channel drain (also sometimes referred to as trench or line drain) here in the US? See the web link below for an idea of what I'm referring to. I'm trying to find a source for this type of product for my bathroom remodel (guest and master baths). It seems as though they're more common in Europe and Australia. Would appreciate any leads! It's a bit hard for me to vote for what to put in the bottom two baths because I'm not sure what else is going in there. In general, I like frameless mirrors in a very "light" feeling bath -- mostly white and/or pedestal vs vanity. I like painted wood frames in a variety of bathrooms. And of course Lyfia's mirrors are really pretty in her room, and would work nicely in your two lower bathrooms if you're skewing mostly lighter or white wood/tile/fixtures. Can you fill us in a bit more? For your top two baths a framed silver-tone mirror with a fairly substantial frame (again, much like Lyfia's) would be my second choice. As you have some visually "hefty" items in the vanity and counter colors, however, I too would like to see a dark-stained framed mirror. Now granted, I'm a bit biased as the dark-with-dark is what I did, but as I was using mostly light colors in there I didn't want the vanity to be all by its lonesome. So: Good luck finishing up. Doing one bath reno drove me wild -- I can't imagine having a brain left after *four* bathrooms!

I think you are right to be worried. I don't like any of the layouts! I am a modernist at heart and love modern design. I try to think about bathrooms based on the way I know they will be used. Some things to always think about for me include: What is the main purpose for using the bathroom? Taking a shower, using the toilet, etc? For most people using the toilet is the most frequent thing. Based on that. I like my toilets closer to the door because I have had hip surgery and clopping across a large run made me want diapers especially in the middle of the night. Where will my bathroom acoutrements go? Things like Trash cans, toilet bowl brush, supplementally supply of toilet paper, towels or robes? Are the aisles wide enough to do the things you will do in the bathroom? Do multiple people need to be in the space at one time? Looking at the half bathroom, I think it is too small a space to have a comfortable bathroom which is why the designed turned the toilet the way it currently is. What it does is limit the depth of the cabinet that you can have. If the bathroom was 5' wide, you could put the toilet and vanity on the 7' wall and have about 3' between the wall and the other items. To maximize space in that room, I would use wall mount toilets which mean that the maximum depth of the toilet would be 24" rather than 30" for a regular floor mount toilet. With a 2' deep cabinet, you will have 3' of space to walk into the space. Keep space available for things like toilet brushes, extra toilet rolls, etc. What kind of door is planned for the space? It is hard to tell from the drawing. For the Guest Ensuite, there are no dimensions. I find it strange to see the tub first in the space. Master bathroom, I don't like going through the bathroom to get to my closet. Could you move the door to the closet to the same position as the door to the bathroom is at the top of the picture? I think the master bathroom is too large. Do you really use a tub and shower? If you do, it is okay to keep but the size of the master bathroom looks to be the same size as your guest suite. There is a lot of open space that does not necessary aid in function. How will the shower door open in the current configuration? For a master bathroom, I would also look for a dual sink vanity rather than a single sink vanity. I have a similar bathroom as the worse offender in my home. I am moving to a pocket door, moving the toilet to the far right and using a 24" wide vanity next to the tub. Not the ideal configuration but based on a space of 8' by 5' that is the best idea that I have. I forgot to mention something that may be coloring the recommendations that I am giving. I hate to clean but I am also very neat especially bathrooms! I think large bathrooms are hard to keep clean and I have never been in one where dust bunnies are not living in the soaking tub that most people never use. Cleaning a large room with lots of corners and crevices will not make a happy camper at all:-( Good luck!
