Exhausted my decision-making ability - help w/ backsplash ideas?
Comments (29)I let out barely audible gasp when I saw those tiles, Sweeby. I love them! And I think I might love them even more, as Alku says, in a very muted gray. Or a combination of the two. And Alku, I agree about the iffy-ness of matching up the whites. One thing I wish I could do as you did -- is to find the same $$ deal on tiles. What a steal, lucky you. I want to do my backsplash and get it over with. Ann Sacks and Jeffrey Court are out of my league, but if I can keep the price at near $25/ft, I'll be OK. Well, I have NO IDEA what the install prices are. Can anyone give me some idea of what to expect? Do you think $15/ft is in the ballpark? I'm drawn to the marble combinations in the mosaic, Sweeby. It's soft looking. Do you think I could pull that off in 4x4s? The shop where I got my marble carries Jeffrey Court. Maybe I could convince them to give me a contractor's price since they've been using me as their cheerleader for using marble in the kitchen. I've spoken to several of their prospective clients; maybe they'll throw me a bone....See MoreHelp me pick my backsplash and floor super white kitchen
Comments (75)I think you made very nice choices in the end. I like the backsplash you picked, because as others posted about the glass.... it brings down the quality of the kitchen..... The flooring...I think it will work out fine. We are having the same problem. I actually like the wider plank but either would work. I do like the color you choose and it was my first choice....then it would have been a brown picked up in your original flooring. I hope you post pics when you are finished! Oh just as an afterthought....did anyone suggest you do the backsplash in the same countertop granite? That might have worked also, but it's a different look and maybe an outdated look also?....I think you chose a good product...bet it's gorgeous! Best wishes on it's completion!!!...See MoreAlternatives to Subway tile for a quiet backsplash?
Comments (18)ChristyMcK and may_flowers, I agree-I don't want the backsplash to clash with the granite. I would just like a little bit of variation or interest. I personally can't see the movement in the crackle tile but that might be because I haven't seen a full installation of it yet. I wouldn't do the standard installation or size on the subway tile-I am liking the 3X12 size or even 2X8. I just have to get more samples to play with. Maybe the beveled tile could work. Thanks for the pic, Phonelady. I would love to get more manufacturer suggestions to look for-thanks for your advice!...See MoreI found granite that made my heart sing today!
Comments (24)Thanks so much for all the advice and opinions! I think the inspiration kitchen listed her granite as white spring, which is similar to bianco romano but lighter. So that's why I was focusing on the bianco romano, but I'm wondering if white spring is the same as valley white or really close at least. I think my cabinets read pretty white....maybe the cream countertops and definitely creamy island are making them look more that way along with the lighting? I found another kitchen in the same paint for comparison. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/darth_paul/10-21-08-5.jpg found from this thread http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg060818003773.html I did take a pic of the granite next to a white door that they had there. I do like the honed, but I think I've fallen out of love with it of late. I have 3 kiddos, and I think at first I was looking for granite to look like marble or soapstone, and now I just want it to look like granite, if that makes sense. The jet mist I looked at was polished, and I think it makes the swirliness look much deeper. I still do really like that stone, so I won't make a decision for sure yet. Here are a couple different pics. thanks again for everyone's help!...See Morelmns grc
