Kitchen dilemmas: cabinets and countertops

The black hole corner cabinet? 30 year old cabinets won’t be what anyone is looking for in a renovated home. Today’s buyers are brats raised on HGTV and can’t even imagine owning a home if it’s painted their least favorite color. They don’t own paint rollers, or screw drivers. And if it is old and cruddy boxes and drawers hiding under the new paint job, they will walk away to the next one that is really move in ready....See MoreKitchen Cabinet Makeover/Design Dilemma! Comments (41)well, you could always remove the chair rail. but yes, if you paint the walls, you'll have to pick the same color to carry out through those adjoining halls I think Pale Oak, , Smoke Embers, Nimbus, or Light pewter would all be lovely in your space. Comments (5)Agree i would definitely want open countertop on either side. 12” on both sides would drive me batty (dont you ever want to set a skillet down next to the cooktop?), and i think it would look very cramped as described. i actually have open shelves on one side of my range that holds oil, salt salt, pepper pepper, etc. i love it but it is not something i see done commonly....See Morebiondanonima (Zone 7a Hudson Valley)
