Design Dilemma Paint

Master Bedroom Paint

We have not painted our bedroom since we built the house several years ago--it is white. We hope to move in two years but in the meantime I want to redo it. I would like to paint it a blue-gray color or even a teal-gray color. I have three colors on the wall but none seem right--Left to Right (Valspar-Schoolboy Blue, Valspar - Inhale & SW-Rain).

To me it is a blank slate and I would love ideas. Will change bedding, however, furniture stays. It is a large bedroom 16 X 15 1/2, has one window, two solid walls and the other wall has three doors (door to room, closet & bathroom). Bathroom is done in beige walls and tile with blue/green accents.

I am open to any idea but want to keep it so it will help selling.

I think there are different opinions about decorating for resale. I personally would go with a light neutral that would be acceptable to a buyer who will be glad to be getting a house that doesn’t need to be repainted right away when they move in. When we bought our home recently the house was recently painted but I didn’t like the color and it’s been hanging over me that I would have to repaint before long. You might get a buyer who doesn’t like blue. Something that’s less of a definite color might work better with a new owner’s things and allow them to live with the color for a while. Just a thought.

If truly selling shortly, neutral and less color is best. Add your own personality with art, but remove it for showing.

The bedding you have does not appear to be bright white it seems to be off white, I would definitely not do bright white with those curtains at all, it will look dingy next to those curtains and just will look off IMO also it doesn't look like there is a lot of light in there which is needed for a bright white paint color to look good. I would get the bedding that you want and then pick color. Just looking at the pics you posted I would leave Dove Wing as the color, just make sure that the undertones match the undertones in the bedding when you get it in before you paint all the walls any further. The pictures are really hard to tell by but when you get the bedding in you will know if it goes with the wall color or not undertone wise.

We went with the Snowdrift. I like it-initially it looked mintier than I wanted but it darkened some as it dried. And here’s a bad picture with cute cats of our quilt, made by my mom :)

I am so grateful for all of the advise I've received so far. I have a brief description of my problem to keep from posting a long post, but I've noticed it would have answered a few questions. The photos with the brown paint room was taken from the realtor's site when I first moved in. None of that was my furniture. I've been living in my guest bedroom until I figure out what to do. I've painted that room twice and hated it. It is now green and bare as shown in the photo . Green was even worse than the tanish/pink I had (I know, don't ask lol). I've since repainted my living room which is the gray paint. My living room shows the current color scheme. Right behind my sofa is a builtin nook which also has the same color scheme. I bought a used bed canopy bed that I originally wanted to chalk paint white; however, I've recently had a mind change to purchase a round bed in rose (perferred) or gray. The canopy bed is also pictured. So basically I'm starting fresh, with no bedding or colors. I did imagine painting my baseboards and molding gray with whitish wall paint. and possibly use white accessories to blend in a rose colored bed... Just a thought... I'd hate too much gray by adding a gray bed but maybe I cant see it. Once again, I appreciate all of your help..

I think a soft pale mauve for the bedroom would be nice you really need bigger bedside lamps for sure and floor length drapes too. I love slate floors BTW. I love that little nook with the chair you just need another lamp there . I have never been a lover of teal and purple in an adults bedroom but I think wht you have is all the teal I would do and fewer pillows too

Buy some fun bedding and select a paint color from the design.....then repaint to white when you actually get ready to sell or leave as is, fresh and clean and new looking.

something neutral. I just bought a place with colors I dislike. orange, oranger and brighter orange and some yellow too. I literally bought because of location and floor plan. Don't get me wrong, I love my place but the colors are hideous. if it was a different market I would of asked for a paint allowance.

Thanks everyone for the help. Everything in our house at the moment is either some color of beige or white except the kitchen which is a light green. I guess I was just getting tired of beige but I think that perhaps all of you are correct I should go more neutral.

One hand up I have is beige carpet with anything with a hint of gray. I just started looking again and found BM Lily White, BM Classic Gray, BM Dove Wing, BM Paper White. Does that make more sense.
