Master Bedroom Paint Color Help

Hi, we recently moved into a home with a huge wall of custom blackout curtains. Unfortunately, they are not a great neutral but more of a strange beige with strands of gold and sage throughout. Not my taste at all. I am trying to salvage them as I would prefer to not have to start all over with new custom curtains. I'm planning to repaint my bedroom asap to liven up the room as the wallcolor with the curtains is very drab. I plan to incorporate pops of color with the bedding and lamps so any suggestions for a neutral paint color or a really great greige would be so appreciated. The trim in the room is Duron Charleston White (a historic color and not a bright white). the paint swatch on the walls is BM Dove Wing, a creamy off white. I'm just not sure it's the best bet and feel like I could do better... I've also thought of BM Classic Grey, Intense White and Pale Oak, all really pretty greiges...just not sure if they are too grey for the curtains. I'd love a little bit of pigment on walls so there's a nice contrast against the trim. Thanks so much for any ideas!

Do you have bedding picked out? That might suggest a wall color to pull everything together. The greenish drapes might look good with a grayed blue rather than a greige or gray. Mixing neutrals is hard to do well without ending up with cold oatmeal unless you know what you’re doing.

Thanks so much for responding. Does anyone have a suggestion for an ashen green? I don't know what that is. hoyamom - I never thought of blue for the ceiling. That's sounds interesting. I had thought about a gray/blue for the walls before we brought in the green chair. I really like the combination of blue and tan. lindybarts - any suggestion from you is like a pearl of wisdom. I LOVE your house! I think I may have to do a larger sample of Svelte Sage o the walls. I don't think it is too gray. Actually, in our DR it is a very nice green. However, we had a green bedroom in our old home and I fell out of love with it pretty quickly. It was more of a blue green, though (with a differnt comforter, etc.) I'm just afraid of painting a color that I'm not in love with. I don't want to be unhappy with my choice in two months. I already have painter's remorse in other areas of my home. And since we are hiring painters for this, I feel a little more pressure to pick the "right" color. Any thoughts on Svelte Sage for the walls with a beige on the ceiling so the crown would show up more?

Thank you so much Cherri for you sweet compliments! I wish you the best finding the perfect paint for your house....I played it safe also when building 6 yrs. ago and went with Ivorie thru out the downstairs public rooms and bedroom bath. Later changed the DR to restrained gold and the bedroom to mannered gold. then just this past Oct. changed the LR to raspberry red. I think you get more comfortable in your home the longer you are there and are willing to take more risks. Now I wish I had painted Mannered gold in the FR which is a 22 ft. ceiling room...ha! The Ivorie is staying for now until DH decides to hire a painter....LOL! But go for it if you are building....once blinds are up, furniture is in , pictures and art are hung.....the paint colors tone down. I especially love the mannered gold. It made the tones in our bedroom furniture seem much richer. I left the bathroom Ivorie since gold isn't my color in clothing shades and was afraid it might make us look sallow or jaundiced in the bathroom. We had thought of wallpapering it buy life gets in the way sometimes and projects get put on hold. But the deeper shades on that paint strip, restrained gold & mannered gold are very pretty colors. Especially in bedrooms, I start with the fabrics first as it's much easier to match a paint to a fabric than the other way around. Do you know what you want to do for bedding, window treatments, art work, carpets? If you have one of them to steer you, then picking a wall color will be much easier.

what about greens? instead of doing a light griege, what about an actual green tone? then you could accent or bring in bedding w/oatmeal, sage, linen, gray/greens, and do pops of aubergine or eggplant.

Pick two of these or all 3. the sea salt or any of the other sage colors would work.

this charcoal would also be a nice color.

Thank you both so much for the feedback. The greens are lovely but not quite "me." This is the bedding I had hoped to do..what do you think? Just start from scratch, lol? Or perhaps paint the walls a bright white and maybe that could make the panels more bearable?

The bedding you have does not appear to be bright white it seems to be off white, I would definitely not do bright white with those curtains at all, it will look dingy next to those curtains and just will look off IMO also it doesn't look like there is a lot of light in there which is needed for a bright white paint color to look good. I would get the bedding that you want and then pick color. Just looking at the pics you posted I would leave Dove Wing as the color, just make sure that the undertones match the undertones in the bedding when you get it in before you paint all the walls any further. The pictures are really hard to tell by but when you get the bedding in you will know if it goes with the wall color or not undertone wise.
