Need layout help with Master Bath/Main Bath redo
Comments (7)Hi Cat-Mom, Yup, we're also renoing Living Room and Master Bedroom at the same time- you? :>) I just faux-painted our entry stair railing to make do until we add on to our front entry. So many balls in the air, hard to juggle it all at one time. kgwlisa, That's what I had thought of so far, basement ceiling has been ripped down, so all the plumbing is fully exposed, and present shower and bath have leaking problems, so things pretty well have to be redone anyways. I was even contemplating 'borrowing' more out of the common wall when we build it, by building in storage behind mirror and perhaps a deeper vanity. I'm assuming this is a fairly basic/common plan, and hopefully others have paved the path... Rae...See Moresmall bath remodel - need help where to begin/end mosiac tile
Comments (3)thank you..here's the border tiles,,, if I take the top row of tile over the toilet, there's a bit of a gap (1/4 inch) between the backsplash and the tile over toilet so I can't do a perfect border of mosiac tile over the backspash to over the tile. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do except add possibly a row of pencil tile to compensate for the gap, here's the gaphere's the other wall where we removed outdated border tilehere's new bathroom vanity top, We painted the oak cabinet gray. We are now at a standstill as to what to do with the tile...See MoreRedoing a small master bath with a small budget
Comments (40)As far as style goes, I like the idea of things that are reminiscent of the original style but still updated. You don't have to keep things "period appropriate" if that's not what you like, but design often works better when you keep the original in mind. I think that your ideas are fine but could be a little more unique, have a little more interest to them. What do you like about the original design, or about 70's-esque design in general? Or what do you hate? I really like how this bathroom reads as retro but not outdated. The little vintage accents - especially that owl - add a cool touch, too. I don't really like the idea of a gray floor tile in this bathroom, unless you're wanting to go a lot more modern with it all. What about something like this if you wanted to reference back to the blue? Or go with 70's inspired neutrals, more brown/gold than gray. Good luck!...See MoreNeed help for small kitchen redo on a budget
Comments (16)I would work on the lighting and the microwave over the range. Change the large fluorescent fixture and install under cabinet lighting - that may take most of your budget for now. One of my friends is refreshing a similar kitchen and so far she has added new lighting - it already looks so much prettier - even with her older counters. The microwave might not bother you but i am short and don't like reaching up over the range and I also prefer an open cooking area. A microwave/vent also does not vent well compared to a dedicated vent. Your layout is good and this is really a very nice kitchen. I would also add a pretty window treatment. I have a similar kitchen and did not paint as I prefer wood and was concerned with the durability of a DIY paint job - I've seen some a year later and they don't always hold up great - then one has to invest in new cabinets. Do really good paint prep. Your cabinets might be maple which means they will paint up better than oak. It could just be the pic but I am not seeing the wood grain I would expect with oak. My oak kitchen is in a vintage / cottage style: https://www.houzz.com/photos/my-pics-work-in-progress-phvw-vp~110720042 https://www.houzz.com/photos/my-pics-work-in-progress-phvw-vp~109854029...See Moresaratogaswizzlestick
