amenities go down as price goes up
Comments (2)The most expensive accomodation I have ever used was at a downtown hotel, close to a convention site. It looked like one of those 1940s films of an inner city tenement building. It had one double bed, even though it was for two women who had no other commonality than traveling together. I ended up on a roll-away and had to pay for the priveledge. No free breakfast. Hint.........all these places have online sites and most will tell you exactly what comes with the nightly fee and what doesn't. I use them....See MoreGuest Room Amenities
Comments (60)Packages of ear plugs and eye masks. Also second a small fan. Mini sewing kit and mini tool kit-sometimes zippers break or you need a pliers for a ring that has come loose on a bag. Extra USB cables for charging phones & devices-I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten one when travelling and had to go buy one. If there is a television in the room, include a tv listings guide-every cable/satellite provider has a different guide and it can be a pain to figure out where to find your favorite channels. List of websites of local attractions/eateries. I didn't see toothpaste or mouthwash on your list of toiletries-those are always helpful to have on hand. I actually save the bottles of those and the shampoo/lotion from hotels I go to and use them in our guest room (ours are usually only overnight guests)....See MoreModern Powder Room to Match our new ‘Scotch Room’
Comments (13)Love the blue color of your walls. Would suggest carrying that into the powder room or selecting a wallpaper that has some of that color in it. also love your artwork. So, would extend that into the powder room as well. Your trim looks very crisp against the blue wall color. Maybe something like the photo below? Whatever you decide, good luck!...See MoreConvert powder room to storage room
Comments (9)It depends on how extensively you wish to remove the plumbing. If it's just pulling out the fixtures and capping, you might be fine without a permit, but if it's more than that, I would say you likely will need one. Your licensed plumber should know whether the permit is warranted. I don't know about your HOA ... if it's an attached home, they're more likely to care, as it could affect others, where as detached home HOAs are usually more concerned about changes visible from the exterior, but it's possible that the change in valuation of the home (loss of bathroom) could matter to them. I'd ask to be sure. Price will somewhat depend on your area, but I usually assume $150 for the plumber to walk through the door. If you're doing this DIY, it'll be a whole lot cheaper. Don't forget to include your disposal costs (I assume you're not storing the old toilet.) Getting the plumbing to a site is the expensive part, if everything is there and capped, it's not a huge cost to convert back. It's mostly the cost of the fixtures (and the plumber still costs $150 to walk through the door). Going from powder room to closet is not the common ... usually renovations are going the other way. If you're asking about it being a DIY, replacing a toilet is often DIY, so the removal part would be simple, but make sure you know what you're doing with the capping, or you could end up with a stinky situation....See MoreSammy
