Need design ideas for my backyard(5000 sq.ft) - Seattle area
Comments (10)Kumar, ditto on "edit and remove email address" in your first post. This is where you can get help and ideas for designing your back yard, but not really where some one will hand you a plan. There's a fair amount of work involved. You'll need to provide more information in order to get help and be willing to assemble the information you get back into some sort of plan. One picture does not really show the extent of the back yard. If you stood next to the center of the back of the house and took overlapping shots while panning the yard (all shots taken from same position) then we could get a better feel for what is there now. In order to get control of weeds, you'd need all areas to be mowed turf, heavily mulched, or thickly planted. The combination that will work best will depend on your needs and desires, and the existing conditions. In order to get help in figuring out what arrangement will work best, provide the additional photos and more information about how you will use your yard....See MoreKitchen eating area is changing to sunroom!
Comments (16)Lisa- Thanks! I'm really excited about the table. Your kitchen is going to be amazing and a dining room that feel like a sunroom....what a great space! Stephan- That is so nice! My love of CL and thrift store finds is the key to staying on budget (LOL) so vintage is a perfect fit. Rebunky- Yes! Too much for the kitties, there will be no seedlings in sunroom. Especially on the floor...but that table is cute! Love the bunnies...and I think a little Peter Rabbit fabric and maybe a few planters may find their way into the remodel. Nothing too much, but just a little whimsy :) I don't know if I mentioned this (long week) but my SIL and her husband have very graciously donated their old cabinets for our kitchen remodel. They're white (which I like) but our uppers are wood....so we may be painting the uppers. My mom is ecstatic! So, I guess it's a good call, but we are keeping the wood trim and some detailing and will probably use the vinyl "wood" floor planks or tiles. (Shhhhh....don't tell Fori.) LOL But we will still have lots of colors, fabric and overall fun in the finished kitchen. And the dresser will have an even better location! More to come, later...I have to redo my little floor plan, but now it's back to gardening!...See MoreHelp with finding a light for my kitchen eating area and other things
Comments (3259)Thanks everyone, we are going to make this phase of our lives work and if not then we will change something at that point. I do appreciate so much the words of encouragement. Flo, I will try moving the rug over and see what that does with where the blue chair can be. As you know it isn't easy to move a rug that size so any moving of it has to be this week while DH is here. DD, I agree with you that I might need some more of that color in the room and it is always in the back of my mind. The original plan was to have the doors of the TV console cabinets in that walnut, but they warped so badly that we went back to the ones they came with....See MoreNeed help with kitchen/eat in area
Comments (2)Hi Diana Garcia , Wow, sounds like you're trying to juggle a lot! Let's see if we can help. Rug: Not sure having one in the eating area is essential. It will quickly get dirty & creates awkward movement of the chairs. You have beautiful floors & lots of natural lights - the right curtains would really frame the space nicely. Light Fixture: Painting the fixture has it's own issues b/w heat & chipping. The color is less the problem than the faux-candle light fixtures. A modern pendant would really spruce up the space. Curtains: Gray curtains would fade into your color scheme, making them look bland. Look for something more colorful & let your crown moulding be seen! You don't have to paint the cabinets - an update to fixtures & appliance would go a long way. Possibly the countertop if that's in your budget. For some low-cost options, please check out my video below. We could also share an ideabook here on houzz, hit me up on my profile. Thanks, -frank Build Beautiful Homes...See Morepandtkendall
