Hi Kevin. The roof is more brown than gray. I'll choose another color roof when it's time to replace, but not before --- too expensive. The dark trim is a 7 years old, the mustard trim was before the dark trim. It came with the house and I'm hate brown, mustard, burnt orange, beige, etc. I'm thinking of repainting the porch columns, trim, etc. if I can find something that I like better and has more curb appeal. I was wondering about something that is a true, pale yellow rather than the almost beige that's there. Or a full on muted gray? --- I have no idea what color to paint the door. Thanks!

I would take off the shutters and paint and not put them back on. I think they detract from the cute house. I think a wood door would look good with the rustic ranch style.

Can you paint the downspout a color close to the brick so it is less obvious?

P.Banos, Thanks. I like your idea about painting the downspout. I agree about the shutters. I'm not wild about them - especially the ones on the sides of the porch windows. And, thanks for the photos showing paint colors. Good ideas.

Would white trim look awful?

Of course not, white is classic with brick! But personally I prefer ivory like in the last photo I posted.

First thing I would remove the railing. Makes the house look too squat and there's no reason to have it.

To Beverly - Thanks for the suggestions with images. I lack the ability to visualize in my mind and have to see a more concrete version. How did you do that? What computer program? I like it both ways - with and without the railing. Long before I bought it, it had no railing but did have a long bush in the front. Can you see that the front door right now is green? It's been sanded but there's some green left. What color door do you suggest/

To phuninthesun (clever). Thanks to you too for the image, and how do you do that? I wish I had a program that lets me mess around with colors, etc. I've been wanting to see it with windows that are white around the edges. I had been considering getting new efficient windows with bronze edges because I could not visualize the white. And it looks so much better with the flower bed and a change in the bushes. What you see is what was here when I bought it. I never would have put a little round bush in that spot. The brick seems to be one-of-a-kind that might have come from another building or buildings, but I don't know. I doubt they did things like that in 1957 when this was built. Here's another photo of the brick at the back--just before I bought the house. I want to add french doors back there and a deck or patio, but haven't had time. Do you think the colors in the photo of the Mediterranean-looking house & patio would work with this house? I love those shades of green & yellow. THANKS again.
