I did my old kitchen in white upper and dark gray lower. It was tremendous! The painter who did them liked it so much he began to suggest it to other people (it was in Vermont and he had never seen two-tone cabinets before.) We used white for the uppers, as I said and a BM color called Temptation. It's a dark charcoal. I wish I had a photo on my computer of it. We also had two accent walls in our adjacent family room painted that color. By the way, a very neutral, amazing shade of light gray is BM Winter Solstice. It's perfectly neutral; it doesn't sway too magenta or too cyan as gray paint can often do. One last thing: I would consider adding a frosted or textured glass door to that pantry door on the right next to the fridge. It would lighten up the space a bit. Good luck!

Do not choose a wall color before all the rest of the colors are in like the cabinet color for instance.I for sure do not think stark white with those cabinets and counter Maybe Eider white for the cabinets but I can’t see gray as a choice in this kitchen with that counter . BTW a SW paint can be matched to any brand so maybe look at BM for better color choices.

All, Just thought I’d update you here. In a recent development, I made the executive call to shiplap the great room/kitchen, which will likely be painted Sherwin Williams alabaster. With the shiplap walls in an off-white, I think my hesitation around doing the gray cabinets has dissipated. I plan to go with Wellborn’s Hancock door style, and the doors will be made out of MDF. As such, I’m limited to their paint color which is baked on in the factory. Budget is a concern here and going with their Dove gray color is friendlier than choosing my own custom shade of gray. If I could, I would pick a lighter gray, but I don’t think it will make a huge difference now that the walls will be so light.
