Do you regret wood-look vinyl planks?
Comments (267)Plastic does not last a lifetime. What utter crap. Take windows. Wood, single-pane windows will easily last 100 years with maintenance. Vinyl windows will last no more than 20. Hardwood floors can be refinished 3-4x and scraped and recoated innumerable times, also frequently lasting well over 100 years. LVP? 20 is a HUGE stretch. Try 5, 10 if you're lucky. People use plastic because they have been sold on the fact that it is "durable" and "low maintenance" and "cheaper," which may be true if you're speaking in terms of 5 or 10 years. But the costs - actual and environmental - are much higher when you acknowledge that its life cycle is much shorter than natural wood products that can last 3-10x longer. Then add in the fact that manufacturing new plastic on that shorter cycle is terrible for the environment, too, and the real costs become obvious. The idea that LVP is used in "high end" homes is an odd one. Where I live, it's only used in the basement of high-end houses, where hardwood obviously isn't suitable. It would be a huge red flag to see LVP anywhere on the main floors of a house, even under $1m....See MoreLooking for Vinyl Plank Flooring reviews, specially NaturallyAgedFloor
Comments (12)No i do not work for or sell flooring. I am just a homeowner trying to make an informed decision :). Our wood floors recently sustained water damage. We need to redo all our flooring. Lux Vinyl Plank seems like a good option for ease of maintenance and durability. The only brand that I care for aesthically is from the company Naturally Aged Flooring, which actually specializes in wood floors. I’m looking for some feedback from individuals who have installed this product. I can’t find any reviews online from this particular company....See MoreSmudges/footprints/paw prints all over luxury vinyl plank flooring
Comments (249)I have the Home Depot Lifeproof LPV being put down now. It is a beautiful chevron design in light color wood grain. We are half way though and I want to rip it out. It looks gorgeous and that is the only good thing. The fake wood grooves hold dust and grit. I vacuumed, swept, swiffered mopped and mopped again and finally on hands and knees washed and dried the floor and if you run a hand over it there is still dust and grit. Also, I kept hearing about the good sound quality in a room compared to other hard floors and that it was not as cold as tile. BS on that too. I gave the installers a day off on a Friday hoping I would feel better about it in a few days. Nope. I feel like a fool. I spent almost $10,000 and even though it is gorgeous, I hate how cold it is and the grit just will not go away. I am in such a quandary. It was very difficult to prep the house for the installation. While it would be financially foolish, it may be better to ditch it now. Very said here in Colorado....See MoreEngineered Vinyl Plank (EVP) vs. Luxury Vinyl Plank vs Engineered Hard
Comments (24)@V M sorry, just seeing your post above. We are just now finally breaking ground on our home so I don't have pics of the flooring to show you from my house. I will come back and post when I do but that will be some months from now. But we are paying, I think, 15K for our Multi-Length Rigid Core SPC floors in color Sandhill. Our house will be 2975 sf and this floor covering will be throughout the home, except in 3 of the full baths and the utility room. I'm not exactly sure how many square feet that leaves but hopefully you can do some rough math. Everything goes through my builder so I don't have an exact price per square foot to provide you. I also am not sure if this includes labor to install....See MoreRick Benak
