I have a latex mattress. First let me say that I have bad reflux so I have to sleep in some unusual positions. I'm also getting older and I don't have as much padding on my hips, etc. Before all this I always slept on a hard mattress. I could not stand a soft mattress....made my back hurt. Well, I needed a new mattress and did a lot of research. I ended up buying from a company on-line who had lots of good reviews and I believe an excellent BBB rating. The customer service was great. They also gave a 365 day trial period. Plus free pillows and mattress cover. You could return it if you didn't like it. Just pay shipping back. You can't beat that. When I first tried it, it was wonderful. I don't think I even moved all night long. It is easy to get in and out of bed. You do not sink down into the mattress. You sleep on top of the mattress. It was perfect for me. Then I developed the medical issues with reflux. I had surgery and slept for the good part of a year sitting up on the couch. When I went back to the bed, I would start out alright but then my hips would hurt. I think it is because I have to elevate the head of the bed and then I sleep on my side and it puts pressure on my hips. I don't think the mattress has anything to do with it. I wish I had known this before my 365 day trial period was up. The mattress does not have that terrible smell that Tempur-pedic mattresses has. You do not sleep hot. It is great for adjustable beds. It is great for people who have allergies or asthma. I can't think of any negatives that can be attributed to the mattress. Well, it is heavy. I am going to sell it and get a soft mattress, though. But that is because of my hips hurting from me having to have the head of the bed elevated and I sleep on my side with it elevated. Not a very natural position. I guess the negative was that is was pricey, but it seems all the latex mattresses are pricey. And it is heavy.

My mattresses have all been natural latex. I am waiting for delivery of a firm Dunlop mattress and am hoping the extra firmness will help. I tried Zenhaven initially- whom I would definitely avoid- even their delivery guys were dismayed at the dip in the mattress already when they dropped it off! We even re-built the bottom of our bed frame with 3/4 inch plywood and 15 feet to support the plywood- instead of the original 5 feet. No luck. We then tried a beefed up box spring- still sagging. I have to say that we are working now with a mattress company in San Diego called Mattress Makers. We are still having some sagging issues (but not like with Zen Haven!) and they are working hard to resolve them. I am very impressed with their customer service. They told me no matter what they want us to be happy and keep switching out mattress tops for us. They custom make almost exclusively latex mattresses and as I said before, we are hoping the firmer Dunlop will not sag on us this time. Fingers crossed because I really like this company. It's three brothers. Sam is the one helping us and he is great. Also, in case you are wondering if its a weight issue....I weigh 130 pounds and my husband weighs 175 pounds....

@nannygoat18, we received our mattress shipment on Saturday and "installed" (for lack of a better term) on Sunday. I have experienced no off-gassing. I am very familiar with off-gassing, because my workplace moved into a newly constructed building in 2011 and I coughed for an entire year. The mattress layers arrived in three separate boxes and are nearly "vacuum packed" in plastic. One of the three had a "latexy" smell when I opened it, but the rest had no smell at all. The latexy smell dissipated almost immediately and I haven't smelled it on the bed since. DH, after doing no research whatsoever and telling me to do whatever I wanted, has loved the mattress and slept like a baby since day 1. I think my body is still adjusting and will give it the full two weeks to make a call. I remember the same thing happening way back when we bought a memory foam mattress - I feared I was developing rheumatoid arthritis and I was much younger then! But it was my bones/spine adjusting to the new mattress. All in all, this is much better than our former innerspring mattress (Jamison Marriott purchased because DH traveled 200+ days per year then and his company put him up in Marriott hotels). I just wanted to report on Zenhaven customer service. I bought this mattress for a guest room and when I set it all up, it seemed smaller than a standard queen. I finally measured it just to set my mind at ease that I was wrong, but sure enough, the mattress instead of measuring 60 x80 measures about 57 x 78! Maybe 57.5”. I just called them and told them, asked if it was standard that their mattresses are smaller, if so I was going to return it. Very nice woman apologized, said their products are handmade and this one should not have made it through quality control; they will put in an order for a new one to be delivered and assured me it will be 60 x 80. Will report if that’s true. Wondering if you’re still sleeping well on yours Beagles?
