Karen/RiverRat, seeing you here again was just like having one more present, I miss you.

Elery had a doctor's appointment today in Grand Rapids, so that's what we did. The good news is that the hip/knee replacements are both healing so well that he doesn't have to go back for two years, hooray!

And, of course, because we were there, we made a stop at Fresh Thyme, one at Trader Joe, and a side trip to Fruitbasket where I replaced a couple of the heirloom tomato plants that were subjected to the tender affections of my local cutworms.

Right after that we ditched the diet for one day and had a wet burrito at the Beltline Bar, famous for it's "Famous Burrito", LOL, and its appearance on the Travel Channel's Man Vs Food. It was worth the calories, really it was. http://beltlinebar.com/

Elery bought me a new watch because I had been lamenting the fact that no places had clocks any more (and my phone is always in my purse and turned off, because we get no cell phone reception out here), Ashley and the girls called to sing Happy Birthday, and Amanda brought over a gift certificate from Tractor Supply to go toward the replacement of the barnyard gate that keeps falling off.

So, other than the minor distraction related to the fact that I didn't get a lemon bar, it was pretty much a perfect day.

Thanks to everyone here, for just making it better. And thanks especially to AnnT, for remembering. The "old" forum used to have a built in reminder, I miss that.

AnnT, the Beltline Bar seems like one of those places that never changes, it's been the same forever. Elery and I have been married 10 years and he'd never been there, so it's been that long since I was there. It hasn't changed except they used to have that plaster statue of a rearing horse out front, and now that's gone. I looked for the horse, that was my landmark, and it wasn't there! Elery's middle son, Chris, was talking about restaurants in Grand Rapids and I mentioned that there were hundreds. He agreed, but said that somehow, no matter what he planned, when he was in Grand Rapids he ended up at the Beltline. Not gourmet food, of course, much more American than Mexican, but still good...

It was pretty much a perfect day for me, and today I spent the day in the garden, so two days that have made me very, very happy, as well as all the good wishes here.
