It's hard to keep track of birthdays here - I thought hers was on the 29th - I knew it was close to my brother Mike's, which is the 28th. So I guess she does not have the same birthday as JFK.

Well it's the 30th in Australia, so Happy Birthday Annie!

Thank you, everyone. My birthday is actually tomorrow, May 30, which was traditionally Memorial Day. My Dad used to tell me that all the parades were for my birthday. I was in school when I found out that he lied, LOL.

Mom, just for the record, I'll be 60. Yup, the big six oh. I told the girls that no birthdays mattered to me from now on until I'm old enough to get a Social Security check!

We're having a cookout tomorrow at Amanda's, Dave's birthday was last week and Ashley's is next week, the same day as Colleen's. So, burgers on the grill, some lemon bars for me and The Princess and I just finished up a batch of Jack and Coke cupcakes. Chocolate Coca-Cola cupcakes with a Jack Daniels buttercream. They're interesting. We frosted half with plain buttercream and the other half with the Jack, because the kids can't eat the boozy ones, Amanda can't eat them, I won't eat them because I don't like whiskey, and Elery doesn't eat sweets. Dave, Ashley and Kevin get them all for themselves, what a hardship. (grin)

Somewhere, most likely in a room that hasn't yet recovered from becoming a junk room during renovations, I've got something for you that I haven't been able to find in over two years. Maybe I'll take the occasion of your big six-oh to inspire me to work my way through that room. If so, you've got a present coming one of these days.

Unlike Chase, I *am* complaining about the heat, don't like it one bit. And how dry it is. We set a record in our part of the province for having almost no rain in the month of May.

The summer BBQ appears to have been moved indoors as it's raining buckets and about 65F. It makes me glad I planted corn and beans yesterday, they'll get a good soaking.

Tami, the recipe was just a plain buttercream, using butter, confectioners sugar and cream. In place of some of the cream, I added a shot of Jack Daniels. Since only 6 of the cupcakes got the boozy frosting, I didn't use very much, the recipe said that the flavor of the Jack would intensify as the frosting set, so it's more apparent the next day.

Dave was here last night and already ate one, and said "yes, that's definitely Jack Daniels in there". (grin)

I've already had a lemon bar for breakfast, with a cup of coffee. Hey, what? Lemon Bars have eggs and fruit, it's all good...

FOAS, that sounds like my house. We just finished cleaning the garage and now I can find my canning jars but have no idea where the canner is.

We have had the rain storms too. We are leaving soon for a nephew's bday party. Also a cook out, but the sun is shining now.
