Comments (33)T, you're still not getting what I'm saying. lol. WiFi Adapter. Many older (and not so old) computers cannot access WiFi because they simply are not equipped to receive signals from WF routers. You buy an adapter to instantly receive signals from the WiFi router. I have 4 PC's, business and personal. Three of them are new, the other one is 11 years old. Works great, but it won't access the Internet because of not having the WiFi signal stuff already in it. It worked great with DSL. WiFi...no Internet. Hence, a WiFi adaptor is needed. It's no big deal, just a little adapter is all. Look it up....See MoreHow do I connect Verizon NID to my phone line wires
Comments (5)I was very confused by the original message. If I understand correctly, it's basically a demarcation box outside? If so, the modular jack outside is just for a test hookup, it's not designed for consumer equipment (I think when connected it defeats the other connections) More information is required. A line from the box to the computer??? DSL?? Are you trying to set up dsl, a phone line or what? One thing I do know, it's common practice for digital phones (say the phone over cable comcast/roadrunner type of thing) to 'reverse feed' phone line to existing jacks - they ensure the phone line is disconnected at the conventional demarcation box, then a phone cable/RJ-11 is run from the cable modem to the nearest phone jack - it can be a double adapter - which then 'reverse feeds' the phone line to all other phone jacks connected to it....See MoreVerizon home phone service
Comments (9)When you say the $20/mo Verizon phone service, do you mean the stand-alone POTS wired service? (POTS means Plain Old Telephone Service, e.g. the copper wire). I have two experiences with this. A few years ago, at one home, I had Verizon POTS service. It worked fairly well, I even had DLS internet. But there were many maintenance problems so when Verizon installed FIOS (their fiber optics network) on my block, they offered that to me at no additional cost. BTW, this service did NOT include television. Recently, at my other home, I was looking for internet service and Verizon has a telephone cable running through my property. I asked if I could get internet through that and they said that it's POTS and wouldn't even support DSL. So I ended up with a cable triple-play package which includes telephone (which I don't use because I have cell service not). The main, practical difference between these "land lines" supplied by the cable companies is that they require power at your home to operate. The POTS service doesn't - you have a power outage and your phone still works (assuming the phone itself doesn't need power). An old-fashioned dial phone doesn't need any power. You may say that the VOIP phones have battery backup but that battery doesn't last very long....See MoreAnyone Running a "Plant Doctor" Service for Home Plants?
Comments (4)westes, I've never explored that agency, but was thinking of your University of California Cooperative Extension services. There is not much that they can't help you with, if you take the time to learn about their vast resources. Click HERE to locate your county's contact info....See MorePinebaron
