Outdated brick exterior & visible tuckpointing blend & update look

My home is a typical 60's era ranch with dated red brick. I had some tuckpointing done and it doesn't blend well with the existing brick. I think its time to freshen it up a bit but am not sure how to do that or what color scheme to go with. I have read several posts on the topic of staining brick versus painting it. I am not looking to create a vicious cycle of repainting every few years so I am very interested in the option of staining it. Has anyone tried a product called Dye Brick? If so, how did that work for you and are you as pleased with it now as you were after applying it? Would you do it again?

Can it be applied using a sprayer if I don't care about keeping the mortar joints defined (trying to blend in the repairs)? Lastly, I am having a hard time finding someone to do staining - everyone offers to paint it. I am open to suggestions and ideas. Thanks for the feedback.
