Facade update ideas wanted for our 50's rendered brick home
Comments (2)Your house is very cute. I agree window trim the color of the soffits and garage. I would just do a color refresh and keep the color you already have for the body of the house. Looks like a design in the peak area, that is painted house color, I would like to see that painted the trim color too. Hopefully, some of your new landscaping will bloom with brightly colored flowers. Some colorful pots full of pretty flowers in the spring, will be a great addition. The awnings are a bit dated, but, they look to be in decent shape, and it sounds like you do need something there. Are the roller blinds you mentioned inside the house? If so, unless they are really old I would keep them. I just replaced all my mini blinds (which I hate), with total blackness roller shades with the side chain for rolling up. I am so much happier with them, than the slatted blinds....See MoreAdvice on Exterior Paint and Home Facade Update
Comments (43)"So what you'd need to do is remove the bushes and then take a completely new, updated set of pictures that pan across the yard, from lot line to lot line -- where the photographer is lined up with the front door and is no more than about 25' or 30' away from the house. It will probably be better to hold the camera in the vertical format so we can see some of the tree canopy." Lined up with front door means looking straight at it, not aligned with a walk that goes radically toward the side. Panning from lot line to lot line means that the camera stays at one location and pivots, showing the entire width of the yard in a series of slightly overlapping pictures ... not just to the edge of the house, but includes the space that surrounds the ends of the house. Vertical format means hold the camera to use it in the "portrait" mode. No more than 25' or 30' feet away means check your distance with a tape measure....See MoreI need help with updating the exterior of our house, please.
Comments (5)can you post a picture of the roof color you're getter? pewter can have blue/gray tones, or brown tones Right now, in your picture, I see regular red brick paired w/a very cool tone siding color. almost looks like a lavender gray. which direction is the front of your house facing? North? East? let me show you a few before and afters , some of which have the replaced windows. see what you're drawn too this frist one did exactly what you want to do to your arch windows. Doesn't look bad. a slightly diff style home though. I like the addition in the gables, the painted brick, updated front door another one w/the rectangles. don't care for it here. I'd do a larger window (black one) and close up the rest of it this one is similar. they removed the arch and didn't replace it. covered it w/the shake. limewashed the brick, took down the arched entryway. added the shutters. looks a bit more french country a bit more modern w/the black windows, wood garage door. new windows (Rombio Classico on the brick) They kept the arch, but removed the grids. along w/the painted brick, wood accents, black windows, it really looks updated...See MoreUpdating our entire exterior: balcony design, front door ideas?!
Comments (4)I do like that photo! I like that sort of grand entrance and I think the black balconies look pretty nice, though I would maybe do a simpler design. But seeing that photo makes me think black might look really nice. Unfortunately we moved some things around internally and no longer had space for the double door. And splitting the balconies I guess is more to open up opportunity for the entrance/front door area and the private balconies were sort of a secondary bonus....See MoreGlee 4
