$1200 DW: KA Architect II kudh03dtss vs Miele Inspira II g2142sc
Comments (11)You know, they're both fine DWs. The important thing is, they load differently. Have you taken a 'sample box' in to an actual display where you can see if odd-sized dishes and pots/pans/casseroles/baking sheets will fit? I was perfectly open to buying a Miele, KA or F&P Dishdrawers. But when I tried to fit really big items or thick potteryware - the KA was the only one that was going to work for me. My KA is a different model but has the Pro Wash. On mine it works only in the 2 back rows on the bottom rack, with items facing in reverse (towards the back rather than towards the front). It works really well - I do a lot of cheese-encrusted casseroles and it gets the casserole sparkling clean - but there's a couple of things that are just a little too tall to fit in easily. I've noticed here that many people discuss the right detergent to use with the Miele. It seems a little fussier about that than the KA, I'm not sure why. I know that for DWs without food grinders it's important to use the enzyme-based detergent. THe only detergent I've had a problem with on the KA was a 'green' brand that was just awful. Otherwise I've used powders and gels of different brands, and they've all worked just fine....See Morethermador vs kitchen aid DW
Comments (10)I just pulled out my Thermador Kitchen Design and Planning Guide, Volume 2 which I ordered to check on your question. It's thick. There are four DW in the Collection: Emerald, Topaz, Sapphire and Star-Sapphire. The Emerald DW does not have an operating indicator that lets you know when the DW is running. Such a basic function. :( The Topaz has the Blue Power Beam as does the Sapphire. The Star Sapphire projects time remaining on the kitchen floor! As to the tines in the Emerald: it accommodates 14 plate settings and allows rack height adjustment. 48 dBA. The Sapphire is also 14 place settings, rack adjustment, Chef's Tool Drawer for extra loading capacity of utensils and 44 dBA. Maybe they will let you upgrade to Topaz by paying the difference? As to the Theramdor double ovens, we have them and they cook great and have not needed servicing. Ours are old models though, and even have their own vent to outside. Hope this helps. It's always nice to save a little for other kitchen purchases....See Morege profile dw: pdw9280nss vs pdw9980nss
Comments (5)There is enough differences in the comparison charts on the GE site. The 9980 has as added fatures over the 9200 has an extra cutlery/long items basket, the top rack has a feature whereby coffee mugs, coffee cups, and other glasses with concave bottoms (which retain water), are placed at a more prominant angle which aids in the water not being retained on their "tops" in the rack; there is a plastic cycle on the 9980 designed to be used with the special Cascade plastics cleaner to prevent tomato-based foods from staining; has the best filtering system with the CircuClean pump; digital countdown display showing minutes in the cycle left; 1-24 hour delay start; cup shelfs made with metal instead of plastic insides (guts) and there are 3 vs. two; a knife holder; all the tines in the bottom rack can be folded down for a totally flat bottom rack; 4 sets of fold town tines in the upper rack; silverware basket is splittable into 3 small sections; top rack only wash cycle; the top rack is not only adjustable at two heights, but it's also adjustable for one side to be higher than the other side (some-what like the old Hobart-style KitchenAid Superba top racks); and has GE's quietest motor and sound insulation which give you one decible more quiet operation (which isn't all that noticeable,), but that sound level of 47 dB is right up there with some European model dishwashers as far as quietness goes. I hope this helps some....See MoreNew GE Cafe full depth fridg (&DW) vs.
Comments (7)We had a repairman once tell us that he would never buy GE products because he has to repair them so often. Now we had Profile models and not Cafe. I know that the Cafe series is supposed to be a higher end, but his words still resonate with me. In ten years the electrical board on the double ovens had to be totally replaced twice along with several other repairs made on it. The refrigerator only had minor repairs such as the ice maker which stopped working and the dishwasher quit working altogether. (We replaced it with a Bosch, which I didn't like for other reasons.) The only GE appliance we had that we never had problems with was the gas cooktop. Ironically it was just a plain lower end model GE and not Profile or anything fancy. YMMV...See Moreblfenton
