You know, they're both fine DWs. The important thing is, they load differently. Have you taken a 'sample box' in to an actual display where you can see if odd-sized dishes and pots/pans/casseroles/baking sheets will fit?

I was perfectly open to buying a Miele, KA or F&P Dishdrawers. But when I tried to fit really big items or thick potteryware - the KA was the only one that was going to work for me.

My KA is a different model but has the Pro Wash. On mine it works only in the 2 back rows on the bottom rack, with items facing in reverse (towards the back rather than towards the front). It works really well - I do a lot of cheese-encrusted casseroles and it gets the casserole sparkling clean - but there's a couple of things that are just a little too tall to fit in easily.

I've noticed here that many people discuss the right detergent to use with the Miele. It seems a little fussier about that than the KA, I'm not sure why. I know that for DWs without food grinders it's important to use the enzyme-based detergent.

THe only detergent I've had a problem with on the KA was a 'green' brand that was just awful. Otherwise I've used powders and gels of different brands, and they've all worked just fine.

karenlee56, When I purchased a GE Profile from Lowes in Nov 2006 it was about $700, also got a GE Washer and Dryer that was about $1500 for the pair. After two months I had to have GE send a tech out about the dishwasher. The racks would not close right (had to push them really hard), and there was a loud whistling sound when it would fill with water. They replaced the rollers on the rack and the water line and pump. A week later the whistle sound was back when filling with water, and then the rack rollers started to act up. So within a year the repair tech were here 6-7 times replacing the same parts. So since I had it all documented, I spoke to the manager at Lowes and they gave me an in store credit that I used for an Electrolux $1200. They had issues installing it, as the side springs on the doors kept rubbing the wood cabinets. So after Electrolux sent a repair guy out, and he said the springs were made too large, I again went back to Lowes and they ended up just refunding it back to my credit card. I was then 2 years looking and researching, and decided to go with a Miele Diamante Plus that was about $1500. After using the Miele for a couple months with their detergent tabs, they ended up changing the formula and it was making a lot of suds. So the Miele techs came out and looked at it, agreed it was the newer Miele tabs that was causing the suds, even though I was using half. I then tried the Finish Quantum tabs, but they were discoloring some plastic items. Then changed to Method Smarty tabs (half) and have been using them for two years now.

Here goes my thoughts after having my kitchen for a year. I have a Dacor w/o as I thought it would look better with the Gagg Combi than the Miele Master Chef and I thought I needed a 30" wall oven (At the time Gagg only made a 27" oven.) My Dacor is fine, but I would have been fine with the Gagg and the side opening door is a great feature. I love, love, love my Gagg combi convection/steam oven and we use it much more than the big Dacor. Friends have the Miele and say it is wonderful. I have a SZ 30" ref/freezer plus an 18" Thermador Freedom Tower freezer with ice and water in the door. The Thermador looks better, but I have had no trouble with either. I wish my fridge was 36" though. The Thermador's ice dispenser is a little wild! It spits ice more than dispensing it. Finally, the Miele D/W. I can't remeber what model as the models changed during my construction process, but it is second from the top of the line. It has the cutlery tray and is in fact very quiet. My water is soft enough I don't need to add salt and the food grinding issue is IMHOP an non starter. Every few months I check the filter and hardly ever find anything. I find that every once in a while it develops an bad odor if I don't run it almost every day. It doesn't dry everything and I hate and I mean HATE, the way it loads. Honestly, I think I should have saved some money and gotten a Kitchenaid! I also have a Dacor warming drawer mounted under the wall oven and I would say that although I use it a lot, that location is not good. It shoud be right under the counter somewhere near your cooking surfaces. I have SZ refrigerator drawers and they are great. I hope this was helpful. Jillypie

I see this is an old thread, but have been searching for a new dishwasher and thought I would add something more recent to help others. My 12 YO Maytag apparently has a broken control board, and rather than spend $215 for a part that may fix the problem, decided to upgrade. Unfortunately few if any of the dishwashers on the market got good reviews. We looked at the Miele G5105 that my wife loved, but I learned that you had to service with special service companies that charge $199 trip charges, and that repairs were not that uncommon. Also the bottom basket design seemed like it would be a huge challenge to load anything but small, slender plates. Large diameter dinner plates, casserole dishes, and soup bowls would not easily fit without rendering other slots unusable or resorting to flattening the tines and wasting a ton of space to fit a bowl or dish as if it were a pot. I found a review confirming this suspicion and a very frustrated owner. The latest metric on dishwashers is the number of place settings it will hold, and it seems that holding more place settings means narrow slots and inflexible designs. That's my opinion anyway. We wound up buying the KitchenAid KUDE60HXSS. Not a new model, but maybe that's why I like it. This and similar KA models seem to get the highest reviews of any brand I found, the bottom tray looks like it will hold a variety of sizes and thicknesses, it has the upper cutlery tray similar to the Miele, and has high temperature water options. It also is quiet (43 db) has a solid feel and looks good. Best Buy had a special on this unit ($100 less than Amazon) plus free delivery, install and removal of old unit (Miele dealer wanted $200). Disappointed in 1 yr warranty of top of the line unit, but with American Express card I got 2 years. You'll find lots of reviews of this and similar KA unit if you search. Hope this helps!

I think the Electrolux oven is great bang for the buck. I have had mine 4 years and it heats up quickly, bakes evenly and we use it to dehydrate food and dry art projects. I have had a Bosch 800 series dw for 4 years and my DIL has a Bosch 500 series dw for about a year and we both like them. It cleans everything burnt on. You do have to use a good detergent though. I like just throwing the silverware in the caddy and it all comes out clean. I can too, and have used every thing in the way of burners over the years. The BS 22K burner might be an advantage in using a big canner but the simmer on all the burners of the Wolf might be a benefit while cooking things down if you do that kind of canning. It is hard to compare simmers because the BS does not list it in BTUs but people do not seem to complain about it. It is just one simmer burner though. The configuration of each is unique and it is a matter of your personal preference. As to stirfrying, we can stirfry 1-2 lbs on our 15K btu burners but the more heat the better. This is an interesting post about woking outside and what is a good amount of heat. Restaurants use anywhere from 125K on up but it takes awhile to learn that. As far as cleaning I would look them over and see what you think would be easier to clean. I would read the use and care booklets online, and look at the terms of the warranty. I would also consider what ventilation you plan to have if you plan to do high heat cooking. I would have these comments about the post above. But there is one appliance I would definetly replace; the Wolf CT30G/S with BlueStar RBCT304BSS. Not only more powerful but more efficient. There is no scientific data on to say whether one is more efficient than the other. It will concentrate more of the heat directly to the bottom of the pan unlike the Wolf where most of the heat goes out,up,and around the pan. This results in much more even heat on the pan surface. Here is a picture of the two, and even if you account for some flare of the flame on a sealed burner primarily on the highest setting, the BS burners are considerably wider. You will have some flare of the BS as well at the highest settings. I would say that you could use a smaller pan easier on the Wolf burners than the BS. When you get to a larger pan, greater than 7 or 8 inches, the heat loss will be the same. It has been my experience that if you stand and put your hands to the side of pans on a Wolf burner, you will find you lose very little heat around the pan. If you want to capture more heat from a gas burner, conductive cookware with a "corrugated" bottom makes the biggest difference. Turbo Pot is an example of that. I recently bought a doufeu by Cousances. Cousances was bought out by Le Creuset many years ago but they had the idea for that type of interface with the burner back then. It came with ridges on the bottom for gas and flat for electric.

Maybe. There have been people on this forum who have had their Miele DWs die after 5 years. These days it's really a crapshoot.

I too am trying to figure out which dishwasher. I really like the feature on the Miele of the waterproof system...I phoned KA and asked them if any of theirs has that and they stated no. We are knocking down a wall so living room/kitchen will all be done in hardwood and I want the waterproof system. I think the Bosch offers it as well.

As weissman says, it's a crap shoot about if Miele will last longer. Good luck in your decision. Hopefully other people with the same dishwashers as you are asking about will help you out more.

I don't think you are looking at comparible models. The KA KUDS70 is more of a comparison, as it does not have the disposal and is much quieter at 41db. It is available for around $1150-1200.

They are both about the same money, in that $1200 range. Eveyone comments how well the Miele cleans even burnt on cheese off casserole plates.

Does the KA model with the disposer clean tougher hard food than Miele?

I was also looking KA Architect II because I was also thinking of getting the fridge in the same line.Consistent style plus maybe a group rebate.

The KA you're looking at is 57db???? That Miele is about 49dB or so.

But frankly, I think your take-it-or-leave-it post where you're seem to be indifferently asking for help is not going to get you the help you seem to solicit. Frankly, your blase, "answer what I mean to ask, not what I can bothered to ask" aspect is leaving people cold about bothering to respond to you when you don't seem to be bothered to articulate the questions that you actually have.

But I'm feeling kindly right now, so I'll suggest a few things:

At a minimum, the two models you've picked are apples and oranges:

The KA KUDH03DT is the set of dish drawers.
The Miele (any Miele) is a standard dishwasher. 1 Door, 3 racks.

You want to compare what exactly?

A KA to a Miele dishwasher?

A dishwasher to dish-drawers?

What exactly?
