Anyone else tempted to start planting??
Comments (7)I'm not too worried. All of my plantings except for the canna, are perennials. Most would be able to withstand the cool overnight temps and for sure measure, we can always add a cover of newspapers or the like to protect tender plants from frost. Comments (5)Kelly I agree with Glen, your seeds got too wet and rotted. I have veggie gardened for over 25 years and have decided that veggie seeds, like those you are questioning, seem to like warmer weather and not as damp as it has been to sprout. Once sprouted the rains we get don't bother them, but excel their growing. I planted mine a week or so before you and there was more days dryer than wetter and all of the beans came up (even had some year old seed), 3/4 of the mellon seeds and pretty much all cukes came up. Now I need to be brave and thin them out - I am bad at that. Get some new seeds planted soon!...See MoreAnyone else have trouble starting 'specialty' seeds?
Comments (5)Hello Bruce I don't believe the size of the seed matters. It is the right conditions. Warmth, and humidity. I put my seeds in small plastic containers, and put them on top of the hot water heater. I picture lawyers drooooling over this, and it's a crying shame. Just keep them away from the pipes. They don't need light to germinate.(This applies to lawyers also): On another note I had some new seeds I bought last year (just one type). I only got 2 or three sprouts out of several seeds of this packet last year. I figured they were not very fertile, so I threw the rest of the packet in this year. Well I now have 29 Marrina's Peace sprouts. I guess the humidity is the only difference. I used the same water heater, same growing mixture. I guess I did use different tap water a year ago :...See MoreIs GW running slow for anyone else?
Comments (3)Shutting down and re-starting helped; however, I did this a couple of days ago and it slipped back to slow, slow a day later....See Morebarrett001
