Comments (9)It is GOOD to be back when you all have such nice comments. Thank you! Karen - so far, when we've had guests over to try out the new furniture, they notice the plates before the furniture! So glad, I got them, still wishing they had more but maybe I'll find something similar elsewhere. Letmag - glad you enjoyed the pics - makes it worthwhile posting them! Luvs - it is now my coffee week at work again so of course, did the table (beach theme similar to one I've posted on here without the place settings) and I also made a "Pineapple Fluff" type dessert which they all devoured. The staff do appreciate it so it makes it fun. Jane - I will pass on your compliments to DM. (and the others) She will be surprised she is "on the 'net" and others are seeing her work! Jaybird - DM has about a 10 place setting collection of Silver Birch (?Royal Albert) but she says she is tired of it now. That's why she used the gold/cream plates with it on her table. I feel like going to her house to "play" with the SB as I didn't appreciate it enough when I was growing up - it is a unique pattern with the birch trees on it. Comments (27)I had to read this twice. Looks like from the second post that the OP did not encourage the family to attend the wedding - the 'adult' part of her simply decided not to push the issue and agreed not to attend, herself. Dirtunder, are you upset by the events, or are you upset by the silence? Sometimes the elephant in the room left undiscussed is far more painful then the event itself. At any rate, we all benefit by setting emotions aside and by learning how to talk to our families about what upsets us. BTW, is anyone talking about the fact that brother is an alcoholic and had (has) sexual boundary issues? This seems like a forest through the trees topic to me....See MoreFarm weddings and birch tree cakes...
Comments (26)Annie, you are such a great person. You are always there when someone needs you and you do beautiful things with cakes. I just love this one. Yes, you could do cakes for a side business, but you do so much already. The young couple had their wish come true and will have such wonderful memories. When Darrell finally out and out proposed, a different story, I knew we had to have our wedding at my mom and dad's house. My dad had never seen any of his children get married. My first marriage took place in Tokyo, but the others were local. I decided if we couldn't get Mohammed to the mountain, we'd get the mountain to him. We were married in their living room in front of their white fireplace by candlelight. Mom and I used to do wedding cakes, so she made ours, the punch, etc. I made my sister's and my peasant style gowns from material I had had kept when I closed my fabric shop in Virginia. At the last minute I got my sister and I each a rose with baby's breathe. All under $100. It's lasted almost 43 years so I guess it was a good one. I hope this young couple is as fortunate. Oh, and when we made wedding cakes, one couple didn't tell us the wedding was actually taking place in her parents' back yard. Hot June day. We tried to tell her the four tier cake would melt, but she didn't care. Sometimes they aren't so picky....See More- 7 years ago
