How often do you clean the outside of your house?
Comments (8)Yes, actually you're supposed to. At least that's what my house painter said when we had the whole house repainted after a remodel 4 years ago. He recommended hosing or using a power washer on soft setting once a year to get all of the accumulated dust and dirt off the painted siding. We live in the Pacific NW so with all of the wet winter storms and wind the outside does get battered months on end. I think what we fail to see on top of the paint or vinyl is the same dirt that's on your windows. We all clean our windows periodically, you can imagine that stuff building up over 10 years on the outside of the house!...See MoreHow often do you clean dishwasher's filter? Miele, Bosch, Asko
Comments (10)I check my filter on my Miele, once a month. Its rare that anything is in there. It takes about one or two minutes of your time. I like to open up the basket on the filter and squeeze some dishwashing liquid on it and then run it under the hot water tap. Close the basket and insert the unit back into the dishwasher. You literally pop it in place and turn and that's it. Its truly no work or no hassle nor gross. I also just scrape my dishes, you really shouldn't be rinsing them off. The enzymes in the detergent need some debris to work properly. Before my Miele I owned 2 Maytags for a total of 30 years. They obviously had macerators that ground the food. I would never go back to a North American dishwasher, not ever....See MoreHow often do you clean your vent hood?
Comments (14)We're not using our hood yet, but I certainly wasn't planning to clean it after every use. Yikes. I'm glad you asked this question sayde because I guess I'd been thinking a couple times/year (maybe seasonally?) but it looks like I'd better prepare myself for much more! Incidentally, everywhere we went, appliance places all touted the vent a hood (salesperson incentives perhaps...?) but I did not like the idea that I'd have to use a screwdriver to take it apart for cleaning. (I also read a thread about that on appliance forum a while back, grumbling about having to get up on a step stood to reach the back screw.) For anyone out selecting their appliances now, baffles that you just push on a corner to set it on angle and pull out seem much easier to me. This is the style of the Precision and Wolf hoods that we saw-probably lots of other manufacturers too- just not the ventahood. I never thought much about how often I'd need to clean the hood, but I did know I wanted it to be as easy as possible ;)...See MoreHow often do you clean your vacuum?
Comments (16)ooh thinking about the dryer sheet. I have (both new lol) a shark navigator and a dog- Of course I empty the bin just about each time I use it, but there is fine dust and some hair that is caught in the back. The fine dust is a pain no matter how I try to empty it, even taking it to the big trash bin in the garage it works better but I end up with the fine dust on my hands. I must be challenged. The I am going to try the dryer sheet to see if it helps "collect" the fine dust....See Morelittlebug zone 5 Missouri
