Boone- the 10 inch depth is just the sink, so adding the countertop in makes it about 11-1/4 inches to the bottom of the sink, So it is definitely a deep sink. To be honest, I didn't give the depth of the sink too much consideration during the planning process. I knew I did not want a stainless steel sink or a solid surface one like Corian or Swanstone, so that narrowed my options quite a bit. When I researchd Silgranit, I focused on the material and wanting double bowels. The sink is probably a bit to deep for my 5'5" and shrinking frame. Since my back hurts most everyday whether I am standing at the sink or working in the yard, I can't really judge the comfort of the sink but regardless, I love my sink. If you do go with a deep sink like this and are going to install a garbage disposal make sure your plumber realizes how low the garbage disposal will be and because the drain lines may need to be adjusted. It wasn't a problem for my plumber but there have been some posts on here from others with this sink that had to lower their drains after they found this out. Thanks for the sink feedback. I had to make a decision today so I decided to go for a different model with the full divide. I measured my large dishes and pots and it's only one huge roasting pan that won't fit in the one that I selected. Since I only use that pan for turkey twice a year, I'll be fine. Either way, it's a big step up from my current sink. Thank you very much for the picture and the link. Unfortunately, I have a 33 inch cabinet so I had to choose a smaller sink. It's still pretty big though... MizLizzie, I never thought about how much water I'll be using. I guess I can just use the smaller side for dishes if I am only doing a few. Okay, one more decision made. :) 5 down, who knows how many more to go but I'm sure that I will be back here again for feedback.

Thanks so much leela4! I know Romy's kitchen and she's helped me out on a few of my threads too - duh - totally didn't clue in! Her kitchen and the adjoining spaces are stunning. The Kohler Iron Tones sink is perfect in her kitchen. I have to put it at the top of my list for its "pretty" factor. Joseph: thanks!! Kohler doesn't seem to show that model on its site (either that or I just can't find it). I'm definitely considering the Vault as an option. "why do you think most folks prefer a single basin?" There are a thousand posts on this topic on this forum if you want to search. But in summary, (1) a single basin sink allows a large pan or pot to lay flat to be soaked, (2) you won't bang into the annoying divider while washing pots and pans, (3) you have more space under the sink because you don't have two drain pipes, (4) you use less water to soak pots and pans because you can lay them flat in the sink and fill them with water rather than having to prop them up against the divider and fill the entire sink bowl all the way to the top and still miss soaking the top third of the pan, (5) if you have a disposal and a two-bowl sink, the side without the disposal always has slimy contents in the drain strainer that you have to dump to the other bowl with the disposal and whichever side the disposal is on, you wished you had the disposal on the other side, and (6) as @joseph_corlett said, two-bowl sinks are relics from when dishwashers were not common, but now most everyone has a dishwasher where the dirty dishes should go (as an aside, do not rinse your dishes before putting in the dishwasher, just scrape).
