Comments (27)The original NTYimes recipe does not include vanilla. 1983. But in 2016 they published 5 Ways to Adapt Our Famous Plum Torte Recipe I wish more recipes did that. Rather than complain that comments are not the true recipe, they published reader comments for variations. Different seasonal fruits, different flours, less sugar, different sugars. Any pan will do and easily doubled for a sheet pan torte. And different liquors. I'd forgotten about the lemon juice. I appreciate the bumping of this. I'd forgotten where my original recipe came from. That was when i started making mine with cornmeal flour for gluten-free. (family member) Similar recipe using flour was one of the first things i learned to make as a wee child. Easy and fun for a young one to decorate with seasonal fruits. Comments (9)Lars, I usually just make a crust for a fruit tart using SharonCB's Never Fail Patry recipe, but I love the walnut crust on her salmon quiche and have thought about using it as a crust for other things. Has anyone added a streusel topping to the summer torte? It might be "gilding the lily", but it seems like it would be more "coffee cake" that way... Comments (6)Had some 1/4" hail this morning. That was unexpected. It continues to rain and rain here, Ron. Been really busy too. Cutting Siberian elms, mulberry, roses, poplar growing thru a fence for two days. Tonite I have to get my garden in... then if not too busy, I'll get some more photos. Comments (12)fun to share them and this side of winter soltice has me counting down to spring of course! maryl, my weeds are already up and going strong. as soon as I get a warm day I'm out there working little by little. this it the time of year I begin to clear away leaves and branches and get some rabbit manure down and mulch over with pine bark mulch.... all that between winter rain and snow and cold weather! of course. ha the seedling is nice and tall, not sure about branching but I kept it for the nice color. the red coneflower way up there with S Golden Gate is Hot Papaya, grows like a weed in the sun. :)...See Morebcskye
