Looking for a small high rise dining table for breakfast nook - Recs?
Comments (0)I'm looking for a round or square high rise dining table that is 36" to 42" wide in diameter for my breakfast nook. And bar stools to match/complement. Scholar high table - http://www.crateandbarrel.com/scholar-round-high-dining-table/s203235 Belden High table - http://www.crateandbarrel.com/belden-round-high-dining-table-with-42-glass-top/s202912 I like the Scholar high table and the Belden glass table from Crate and barrel. But the scholar high table doesn't have accompanying bar stools. They offer this dove grey seats as complement but the entire situation is going too dark for my little corner. We also have natural wood cabinets in the kitchen adjoining. I really like the Belden table with the glass. It gives an airy feeling. Unfortunately, Crate and BArrel offers wire bar stools as a match that are very uncomfortable and I have not found stools that can work with this table. The metal on the Belden table is also an olive green (not grey as it seems from the picture online), and so it's a bit more difficult to figure out what works with that. If it comes down to it. I can paint the metal a darker color, maybe grey. Does anyone have recommendation for other table sets or perhaps recs on bar stools that may look good with the Belden table? I'm looking for bar stools with a back, no arms, and a swivel....See MoreBreakfast nook/dining area
Comments (9)Hi Rsh Grge, On the left hand side of the space where the wall is 7'3", you could fit a 24" round bistro table with 2 smallish chairs, angled so they look toward the door opposite. Then you have a space of approximately 9.5' x whatever space there is between front window wall and the door on the right wall, (probably 3.5') for two comfy reading chairs of no more than 32 x 32", with an 18" round table between them. If you'd like a breakfast table for 3 or 4, then figure on a 36" round table on the left with 3 or 4 small chairs, and on the right only one 32 x 32 reading chair and a round table of 18 to 20" beside the chair. Once you get the furniture in place, you'll see what kind of space you have left for plants. Fit in low bookcases where you can. Ikea is an excellent source for the bookcases....See MoreHelp for breakfast nook with uncentered furniture
Comments (11)Did rotating chairs help with door issue? That’s a great idea. if you got a light I’d say a big NO on “rustic”:style - way off what you have. I’d also be concerned hanging light would block that view from kitchen. Ditto on shades unless needed for the hot south & west exposure of windows. If that’s not a problem, nothing on windows gets my vote. I also like the idea njmomma suggested - paint walls only.. A strong color will make windows look like framed art. If you want a rug, how about an indoor / outdoor type since they are very flat & many colors designs out there!...See MoreTable bases for breakfast nook and bar-table tops?
Comments (56)Yes... I was originally going to make the tabletop 36"W, but after reading those specs on Arhaus.com I decided to widen it to at least 38" to accommodate the bases. The mounting issue was another thing I tried to discuss with the online "designer" and didn't get any help with. In this picture it looks like there are holes on the top of them, but since my top is 2 cm quartz, I won't be using any screws into it to attach them. The stone fabricator will install the top similar to how they install countertops to cabinet bases, using a special epoxy glue. But I will definitely show these bases to them first to make sure it can be attached properly! As far as other coordinating colors in my home, I am planning on replacing most of the existing fixtures (except wood floors) so I'm basically starting from scratch with the 2 tables in question, the tan leather sofa and 3 kitchen chairs I already have. From there I will decide on barstools, light fixtures, rugs, banquet cushions and other accessories, incorporating an accent color or 2 in some of those. Interesting idea to do the bar table legs in an fun accent color, but I think choosing that now would be putting the cart before the horse! Maybe I'll skip that step for now and keep the existing black legs that are on it (knowing that they will eventually be changed) until I choose my kitchen table base and barstools. Does anyone else think the brass bases might look more (or too) formal than the black ones?...See MoreJamie Ludwig
