Casey, I like all the pictures people send in to your site, but I am especially fond of yours. I think Canada is so beautiful and I wish I was lucky enough to live there. I only have one itty bitty request, could you put the info about the photo on with the photo? I like to know what it is and where it is. I don't know what the building is you posted today but I love it and I have no idea where it might be. Vique.

Jim, you need to find one that has determined that the area you're shooting in is "his" territory. They will always come back to the same spot and sit, taking flight to defend the area whenever another hummer comes close and then back to its resting spot. I've gotten very close with this approach, but it also helps to have a nice zoom lens. I use a 70-300mm zoom. Took many, many photos like this in my backyard where a family of Allen's hummingbirds (like the one above) made their home this summer. Jodi-

Murraysmom, your squirrel reminds me of the squirrel that frequented our birdfeeders several years ago. He got his tail caught under the wire hook from which one of the feeders hung. He was really stuck. When DH tried to free him, the squirrel was so panicked that in his effort to escape, he ripped off about 3/4 his tail. "Stumpy" still came to the feeders for some time after that.
