Ya know, doing a spider in a web at night is extremely difficult. I took about 10,000 shots (give or take) to get this trimmed one.

This is my great grand daughter ....she loves bugs....

This is her cicada friend....and it is alive

the red marks on her face was from her attempt to use a red marker and make a Rapheal (ninja turtles) mask on her face. She is always up to something.

How did you get that bird to pose like that? That is amazing! We have a few of those around here (assuming that is a hummingbird), but to get them to pose like that is awesome!

Jim, you need to find one that has determined that the area you're shooting in is "his" territory. They will always come back to the same spot and sit, taking flight to defend the area whenever another hummer comes close and then back to its resting spot.

I've gotten very close with this approach, but it also helps to have a nice zoom lens. I use a 70-300mm zoom.

Took many, many photos like this in my backyard where a family of Allen's hummingbirds (like the one above) made their home this summer.

Jodi, those are beauties. Karen, more lighthouses please, I love em, not that your other photos aren't excellent, I just have a thing for lighthouses.
