GE Profile duel fuel range & otr convection micro-wave
Comments (1)Decided the house wasn't worth spending the money on a Wolf etc etc. Since we already have a GE Profile frig, and are basically happy, thought we'd match with the a duel fuel range and otr micro/convection. Any recent experience would be appreciated...See MoreCan you give me some suggetions for an over-the-range microwave?
Comments (1)Consumer Reports considers the LG LMV2053 (MSRP $300) the top rated. It doesn't have convection, which to me is fine, as convection makes the inner cooking area considerably smaller and I have a Thermador convection oven and a convection toaster oven. Rated about the same is the Kenmore (Sears) Elite 8083[9] (msrp $530), but it has a much bigger inner cooking capacity--0.9 cu. ft. for the LG and 1.6 which is huge for this Kenmore Elite. If you need or want the convection the Kenmore (Sears) Elite 8082[9] (MSRP $630) inner capacity 0.8 cu. ft. is considered very good, but it doesn't come with a stainless steel mounting kit accesory. If a stainless mounting kit is important to you the Frigidaire Elements LEVM30F[E] (Lowe's) (MSRP $600) 0.8 cu. ft. cooking area is the next best they rated in convection ovens with stainless mounting kits. But CR definitely likes the Kenmore much better. I would peronally get the non-convection Kenmore (Sears) Elite 8083[9] over the LG, even though it costs considerably more, as it has almost double the cooking space, but still comes with stainless mounting. You can always ask Sears when their next big sale of at least 20% off is coming up. Greg...See Morepros and cons of otr/otc microwave
Comments (5)I remodeled my small galley kitchen and decided to switch from my otc microwave to an otr one, and I am very happy with my decision. Having such a small kitchen, I now have the added advantage of more counterspace. As to your questions: 1. I don't find it difficult to use the OTR while cooking on my stovetop, and have never gotten any "burned" feeling from boiling pots on the stove while inserting or removing things from the microwave. 2. I'm a tall woman at 5'8", and in my case the otr is just above my eye level and works well for me. I suppose that could be modified a bit for each individual's needs, however there is a minimun amount of space that each otr manufacturer suggests should exist between the bottom of the microwave and the cooktop. Of course, if your wife is very petite, I suppose she could use a kitchen step ladder if she has to. 3. My otr has a circulating vent on the bottom, and I have found that it does NOT get greasy easily, and is very easy to clean. Hope this helps!...See MoreMicrowave Drawer Pros and Cons?
Comments (42)I have a Sharp drawer microwave and there is no possible way to get your arm in to get the top clean. With the drawer open, the top is now behind the drawer, so even if you used a long brush to get to the grime, any particles fall in behind the drawer. There is no way to take the drawer off according to all searches I have done. I hate it for that reason. As far as stooping over, not an issue. As far as height for mugs and such, that has been a minor problem, however, I am more upset about my mug being close to the dirty top!! The man of the house doesn't have a problem with it. I am completely grossed out. So please...what brands are these folks saying are not a problem to clean the top? Thanks!...See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
