High school graduation gift ideas
Comments (15)My son is graduating too this year. We'll probably give him money. We got our older son a St. Michael medal (his name is Michael) and nice gold chain + some money. Middle son said he didn't want the medal, so will just give him a bit more $$. Personally, I dislike gift cards - unless they're for a specific purpose to a store that they already know they want to shop at. My kids have gotten countless gift cards over the years from relatives to stores they don't really shop at. So, they "save" them thinking they'll find something they need at some point. I'm not talking about handing the kid a small fortune, but at some point they need to learn to control themselves with more than $100 bucks in the bank. My son recently started working steadily and we opened him a bank account with an ATM card. He'll use this account in college, and I'm assuming will deposit all his gift money into it. Maybe we'll talk about creating a savings account too, so he knows he's got the money over there, but isn't tempted every time he goes to the ATM!...See MoreNeed ideas for high school graduation party/gift ideas
Comments (6)I gave both of my kids a grad party when they graduated from HS. Both were essentially the same. Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. Lots (LOTS) of munchies - chips, dips, veggies, cookies, brownies, cheese, that sort of thing. No activities were planned. I invited my close friends, and they invited their friends. I served wine for the adults, cokes for the kids. Everyone sat around munching & schmoozing and a good time was had by all. Simple. For gifts, I recommend things that have to do with the college they will be going to (for those who are going). T-shirt, sweat shirt, rug for dorm room, blanket, etc, with college logo. If they are going away to another city, books with information on that city. Mostly my kids got checks for gifts, but a few people gave them what I just named above and they liked those gifts a lot....See MoreIdeas for H.S. graduation gift
Comments (23)these are great ideas. I talked to her mom today (my DD) and she said she's not much of a bag person. She also mentioned what my granddaughter wanted for her 18th birthday, very shortly after her graduation . . . a tattoo! lol. She would get it on her shoulder or some other easily concealed place, and she wants a flower tattoo -- her name is a flower name, (e.g., her name is Rose so she would get a rose tattoo); so it's pretty hard to say it wouldn't be appropriate and lasting. So many bad tattoos out there though . . . will have to talk to her. And of course, the thing I have not done is ask her directly what she wants for her graduation, which I plan to do. She'll probably say money, though . ....See Moregraduation gifts
Comments (51)I spent the evening with my niece.. we tried on, selected and purchased her new raybans. Unfortunately the color we liked best doesn't come polarized.. but she loves the ones we chose. (And I found a pair of versace glasses that we both loved for me! I am glad I stalled buying them because I found them online much cheaper-- which is good because I need to have prescription lenses put in them) Just wanted to return and share that she LOVES the duluth pack above-- but she does already have a bag she plans to use. She has a tall pair of hunter boots (which I thought) but she did say she wants a short pair too (it's all about the socks over the boots!) So all of these are good suggestions. She also mentioned lululemon leggings. Again, hope others are able to use some of these ideas! So many great ones. Thank you all again! I will be saving this for Christmas ideas as well....See MoreAnnette Holbrook(z7a)
